Today I purchased Windows 8.1 Enterprise, so far it's taking a bit to get used to but it seems to work and function really well. Even though I found myself removing apps that were basically junk. One of the things that I liked from the start is the customization options, they can really lighten things up or tone them down. But the real test will be when I start using my Adobe CC software & other things. That's enough for now, I'll add further things to my review, what are your thoughts on Windows 8. |

My question is why get Windows 8(.1) if Windows 10 is coming for free really soon? What did you have before Windows 8.1? I personally dislike Windows 8.1 for Metro, but at work I learned of a mod that gived you the classic start menu and that made me enjoy 8.1 a lot more than 7 just because everything else about it was an improvement. |

Yeah I'm confused too, Microsoft has said 10 will be here very soon. Did you get it on the cheap for a machine that won't be able to handle 10? 8 took some getting used to, 8.1 made it a bit better for everyday use. Still find some of its quirks that are built around having a touchscreen - when I don't have one - can be kind of annoying. Like others have said, I have a lot of duplicate applications that frustrate me sometimes. |

I don't like Windows 8(.1) at all. The whole start screen functionality is annoying and way over complicated. I'd like to know why you got 8 now instead of waiting for 10 as well. |

Windows 10 really isn't free unless you have a licensed copy of Windows 7 or 8. You're stuck with having to buy it one way or another. ![]() Honestly, Windows 8.1 isn't the best but it isn't the absolute worst in my opinion. We've got Windows Me winning that award. I was able to daily drive it for a good couple of months with a third party start menu (such as start is back). I was able to skip all that full screen start page crap and use it "normally". I couldn't use it without the third party start menu. I'd have to say that Windows 10 is worth the upgrade in my opinion. I've been running it since October and I've been very pleased with it so far, needless to say I don't have some issues with it, but it's livable for me. |

Crimson was already on 7, so the upgrade to 8.1 seemed a little pointless to us when 10 was just around the corner. I'm with you there. Everyone hates on 8 unnecessarily in my opinion - it's not a bad software overall. Still, having 'borrowed' my brother's machine whilst he's working, I have to say that I do love 10. |
