So a friend offered me his old Wacom Intuos tablet as he's upgrading to a Cintiq, and I thought that I may as well take it :P My version is basically this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/wacom-intuos-pen-touch-medium-graphic-tablet-and-pen/p1203258?sku=233162570&kpid=233162570&s_kenid=e15f7506-ba1a-412c-8757-43d5afce8c80&s_kwcid=402x363648&tmad=c&tmcampid=73&kpid=233162570

I was wondering what your thoughts on them are? From my brief period of playing, it seems like it's more use if you're a professional or someone who likes/does lots of digital drawing and painting, rather than someone like me who's neither :P

Does anyone else have one? Do you use it? Do you use an alternative to Wacom?

I'm waiting to see how the new iPad that comes with a stylus is reviewed for this sort of thing - very interesting that Apple is entering this area, and with one of their more well-known and respected products.

Quality styluses for the iPad have already been around for the while, so have apps. My problem with it is that there are few apps that are actually graphics programs rather than drawing apps or photo editing ones. I guess processing power and storage limit it, but it's certainly something I want in the future.

So I hear you, I've used a friend's iPad with one of the 3rd-party stylus, on 3rd-party apps. But now that Apple themselves is making the stylus, Apple themselves are designing the stylus into their OS, hardware, apps, etc... I expect bigger and better things out of the usability and functionality of these stylus. I'd wait and see.
