The city of Nevaren is a strange phenomena indeed. It is a large island far from the coast of New York, inhabited by several types of fantastic creatures. The island is surrounded by myth and rich lore, enveloped in history as one of the most enigmatic islands known to man. It is known as the ‘ghostland’ of the ocean, for humans did not migrate to live there until the 1700s. It was built and maintained by the Elithyraan, the native shapeshifters of the land.

Nevaren is unique in its ecosystem in the fact that it has several different areas of differing biological types; surrounding the city are green moors, rolling grasslands, lush forests, rocky beaches, eerie swamps, and a particularly nasty, snowy mountain range called the Ahkhutenan.

The city, though appearing modernized at first glance with its skyscrapers, huge corporate business buildings and modern homes, is rife with historical structures from the city’s starting years. Any visitor to Nevaren agrees that its overall style is akin to something out of a fantasy story, with buildings that look as if they were pulled from the medieval era and even the renaissance. Medieval style taverns, old stone manors and aged shops line the city’s innards, and one of the most notable structures is Croí Dubh, or ‘black heart’, a huge, abandoned cathedral in the middle of the city. Structures like this exist all over the island, even in the farthest reaches of the forests and moors. The parks in Nevaren are akin to forests, with acres of thickly wooded land lit only by the street lamps down the winding walkways.

Nevaren has been known for its gorgeous waterways and the bridges that lead over them. The river Valenforth cuts through the city, creating trade routes all through the city. By far the largest bridge on the island, I-40 runs out of the city and leads to New York. Despite this huge highway, water transport is the top way of import and export.

Though the city is undeniably beautiful, it is also very dangerous for human and shapeshifter alike.
