Just in case, by whatever miracle, all you Arsenal.com obsessives have yet to have seen this, I thought I'd post it to let you all know it's out there and to VOTE, DAMN IT, VOTE!

There are 75 nominees, 10 votes per registered Arsenal.com member, and the top 50 will be revealed on a daily basis, with the winner being announced on Friday 18th July.

Voting closes Monday 19th May (4pm GMT), and the countdown begins Monday 2nd June.

I voted...

1. Dennis Bergkamp
2. Thierry Henry
3. Freddie Ljungberg
4. Martin Keown
5. Robert Pires
6. Ian Wright
7. Charlie George
8. Pat Rice
9. Tony Adams
10. David Seaman

 I don't remember why I didn't vote for Paddy. Maybe I was angry with him again for those particular two-and-a-half minutes.

Was Cashley included in the shortlisted 75? In all fairness, I suppose he does deserve to be in the top 50 but he's a complete arse so I'd be very happy if they didn't mention him at all, thank you very much.

Yep, he was. But honestly, can you imagine any Arsenal fan sitting in front of their computer and going, "Yes, I think I'll vote that good shit-head chap into my all-time favourite Arsenal ten"? Maybe he deserves to be in the top 50, but he doesn't deserve to be in anyone's top 10, and for that reason I suspect he won't be mentioned.

Anelka's in at 29. ^o)
Didn't he play for us for all of 2 seasons? I don't know, I don't really feel he deserves that spot.

Me neither really :ermm:

But they use him as like the example of Arsene's begining able to find youth talent and what not since he was like the first he brought in, so that kinda explains it I guess.

Wasn't Vieira AW's first signing?

I think the confusion lies in the title of the list: "50 Greatest Gunners". Anelka may be one of the 50 greatest players to have played for Arsenal, in the sense that he was (and still is - and would be to an even greater extent had he not shagged played around like the floozy he is) extremely talented, and especially for his age, and managed to make some great achievements while he was here. But being one of the "Greatest Gunners", to me, is something entirely different. It takes into consideration not just skill, talent, club and personal achievements, but also club loyalty, prestige among the fans, their influence on the rest of the team, and maybe most importantly, the lasting impression they left on the club. I thought that was why only players now departed from Arsenal were included in the shorlist? I mean, you look at players like Dennis Bergkamp and you think, "One of the most skilled individuals ever to have graced the game. And he did almost all of it at Arsenal. And he's still there every week, supporting the team." You look at players like Charlie George and you think, "He was very good for his time. He scored one pretty important goal once upon a time, and he's still there today, taking kids on tours around the stadium." Then you look at players like Nicholas Anelka and you think, "Yeah, you were good. But you're a bit of c*** really, aren't you?"

Wow, that was quite some rant. :$

No, I agree with all you said, thats why i dont see how Anelka and Cashley even made the list to be choosen from.

On Anelka's page they say:
Nicolas Anelka’s arrival at Highbury set the precedent for Arsène Wenger’s signings of the future.

thats like the first line too, lol

What the fuck. Seriously. Who voted for him?
So he's better than Paul Merson, he's better than Winterburn? My freaking arse.
I bet some spurs fans signed up on arsenal.com and voted him in. <_<

You must admit, regardless of what he has done, he was absolute class in the days that he played for us.

I didn't vote for the man though.To me, he's a money grabbing, classless, grade A* c***.

What she said. Plus, Cashley is a bigger c*nt than Anelka.
He may have been a good player but he certainly isn't a Gunner.
I honestly can't think of an Arsenal fan that would vote for him.

I admit that I was a Cashley fan back in the day, before he had the extra "C" for C**t added to his name. He was probably the best LB in the world, a Gooner as a kid, and one of the few English players we actually had. Like I said before: one of our top 50 players? Yes. Top 50 Gunner? Absolutely not. Whatever good he did while he was here, however much we used to love him and however good a player he was, has all been overwritten by what he's said and done since. I honestly don't understand what kind of Arsenal fan could've sat there and voted him into their top 10.
