Haha, this might have to be moved to the "other footballers" bit soon. :P Aww, bless Jens. I do love him, though- and if he leaves I'll miss all his crazy antics, like the time he shoved Drogba on the floor, and all his crazy time-wasting. I'll never forget his penalty save against Villarreal and the time he said he had "goosebubbles". Because apparently we say that a lot over here.

Jens Lehmann the German football goalkeeper who currently plays for Arsenal and for the German national team is seen taking a stroll through London with wife Conny Lehmann. The couple seem to have a giggle together before Jens leads the way into a bar... UK 04/12/2007

I feel really sad for Jens reading this.

Quote:

"I don't know what I will do after the summer," Lehmann told Fifa.com."I will play the European Championships and then it depends on whether I get a good offer. If I do, I might play on another two years, and if not, I probably might retire.

"It is very difficult (to be on the bench), very hard, particularly when I see the performances on the pitch. Sometimes you have to accept it - even after I played a couple of games and was dropped again."

The 38-year-old admits he came close to leaving for Borussia Dortmund in January but opted to stay for both personal and professional reasons.

"I was very close (to leaving) but I stayed for several reasons. My experience from AC Milan, who I left too early, was one thing, and my family situation - I didn't want to take my kids out of school here. There was also the belief that I still can win something here and be part of it."

...

"I socialised with Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg sometimes, but right now when you look at the squad there is only Gilberto Silva who is near my age and has children."

Poor Lemon feels isolated from the rest of the team. It must be hard watching all your "friends" leave and a new, young team be born and rise up without you. Still. If he does go, that's something else we need to add to the summer shopping list: quality keeper, one or two wide players and a decent striker.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jens Lehmann will part company with the club in the summer.

The out-of-contract Germany international came on as a 69th minute substitute to replace Lukasz Fabianski in Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Everton on Sunday to mark his final game with the club.

Lehmann has struggled to regain the No.1 jersey after a dip in form early on in the season saw Manuel Almunia become The Gunners' first-choice shot-stopper.

Wenger was full of praise for Lehmann, who joined Arsenal in 2003 from Borussia Dortmund, hailing his professionalism.

"Yes [that is the end of his Arsenal career]. That is why I brought him on. We have great respect for him," he told Sky Sports.

"He is a super professional and super talented. In the seven years I worked with Jens I could not fault him.

"He was focused every single day and worked very hard."

You know, as much as he was crazy as sh*t, I loved him. Like that time he got into that "fight" with Drogba, saving that Villareal penalty to get us into the CL final back in 2006, getting sent off in the CL final, time wasting against Wigan, and calling the Highbury Squirrel the ugliest squirrel he had ever seen. I'm really going to miss him and hope that Germany does well in EURO08.
:( :(

edit-Oh how could I have forgotten about THAT season back in 03/04.

He's a legend now...at least in my eyes.

He's one of the invincibles- there is no way you can hate him. Dispite how pissed off I have got about some of the things he has said and done, he will always have respect and gratitude from all the fans. He has done a lot for this club, and I hope he does well ni whichever club he goes to next.

A legend departs. Love him or hate him, that's what he is: A LEGEND.

I wish you the best, Jens! I've still got your iconic penalty save against Villarreal pinned to my bedroom wall, and it shall stay up there for a long, long time to come.
