This part is so long, sorry. I'd wrote the basic outline for the part and it didn't look too long, but then I added everything to it, it's really long! Ah well, I hope you like it. :) -It's my cheating heart that makes me cry- “Are you alright?” Billie asks Kati, after Nettie walks back over to the bar area with her now full tray of empty glasses, which was one of the hi-lights of working in one of the coolest bars in Birmingham, she was able to work whilst hanging around by her friends the whole night. “Im fine” Kati sighs, looking up to Billie who is swirling her cocktail round and round with her brightly polka-dotted paper umbrella. She wasn’t fine. It was obvious to even the least intelligent of people, somebody who looked like they hadn’t slept in three days, and just sat staring at her drink was not ‘fine’. “You don’t look it. Tell me what’s wrong.” Billie is clear-cut, she doesn’t see the point in flowering it out with words, she knows something is wrong and she is going to find out what. Kati sighs again, looking up to Billie with some sort of irritated expression. “Nothing, I’m just having problems with my boyfriend, that’s all. Nothing new, nothing different” Her eyes reverting back to her half empty drink. “Yeah, but you caused them right?” Billie points out, stretching across the table for Kati’s hand which had been fiddling with the beer mats. “You can sort them out.” She adds in somewhat patronizing voice. “No, he has caused the biggest problems, and that’s not even half of it” she retorts, snatching her hand away from Billie’s, she couldn’t understand how she was being so bossy to her when she didn’t even know what was the story with her boyfriend. ‘Well, you disappeared for days, it’s hardly saying “trust me, I am totally committed to you’ is it?” Billie answers, her voice rising nearly filling with anger as she watches Kati carefully. “James kept saying how you’re boyfriend was getting so worried about you, not answering your phone or anything.” Billie pouts, seeing the reaction of guilt on Kati’s face, which was the reaction she was after. “It wasn’t my choice.” Kati answers, her eyes continuing to flicker around the room, refusing to stop in one place. She was feeling under pressure. “What’s that to mean?” Billie pipes up curiously, her deep brown eyes watching Kati. “I woke up in Glasgow; I think Kris had driven us up.” Kati says honestly, her soft eyes reaching to Billie for sympathy. As cute as her eyes are, it doesn’t work. “Because you were drunk and if you want to work it out with your boyfriend you need to stop seeing Kris.” Billie points out, and pulls her greatest ‘I know what’s best for you’ face. She didn’t like being so bossy and big sisterly, but Kati needed to know what was important with relationships. She couldn’t just go off with whoever she wanted to when she was in a relationship with a guy who both of them knew she really cared about. “I’m not seeing him.” Kati protests, sitting up straighter as she looks straight into Billie, going for the honest and truthful look, which of course was close to how she was being. “It was only that one night that we were ‘together’” “You just said that you were in Glasgow with him for the past 2 days!” Billie protests, she is sure that Kati isn’t telling the full truth, she couldn’t believe somebody would go off with a guy they had only just met unless there was something romantic going on between them. “Yes. But it wasn’t my choice, I couldn’t get back and anyway he needed my help.” Kati adding the last part somewhat quieter, she didn’t want any more reasons for Billie to be sticking her nose in whether she wasn’t supposed to. “He loves you right?” Billie says, she’s not really sure what approach she is taking anymore. One side wanted to sort everything out with her and her boyfriend, but she had grown a soft spot for Kris after speaking with him the other night. “No, what?” Kati asks, despite how obvious it probably had seemed to her in the back of her mind, somebody else actually saying it only left her in confusion. ‘He blatantly does. He was so desperate to find you, I gave him your number, I thought maybe you two would be seriously happy together.” Billie explains, maybe he did but Billie just seemed to be complicating it now “But you just seem more miserable” she adds, scooting up the sofa to be closer to Kati who is becoming closer to tears. ‘You think so? You know I love my baby more than anything.” Tears finally leaking from her near swollen eyes, she had been crying persistently for the past three or four days. “He got me angry, so I just get really stupid and go off with other guys to make him feel the way I did. But Kris does not love me.” She adds in a weep, she knew he probably did but the guilt was only adding to the horrible emotions she had on her conscience right now. ‘Then prove that you love him to him then! You hardly seem proud to be his girlfriend, you’ve never even told me about him, not even his name!” Billie urges, putting her arm around Kati who continues to cry into Billie open arms. She was right, so right, and what is worse that Kati had known it all along and done nothing, now she could have missed her chance. What if he wasn’t interested in her anymore, and had just moved on? “Oh my” Nettie interrupts, standing at the foot of the table with two glasses of orangey coloured cocktails, but her eyes are focused on Stephen, who walks in to the bar. “He looks terrible” she adds, sounding hypnotic as she watches him carefully. “you should talk to him, maybe you could cheer him up.” Billie suggests, she was partly hoping to be left alone with Kati again so they could get everything sorted, but she could tell Nettie had liked Stephen since they first chatted about a month ago. “oh I don’t know, I don’t want to be rude” Nettie backs down nervously, he did seem a nice enough guy but Nettie considered going right up to him while he was obviously not in the bests of moods quite terrifying. “It wouldn’t be rude, he’d appreciate it. He’s a good guy.” Billie smiles back, trying to reassure Nettie, knowing fully well that if she wouldn’t go over she’d regret it later on. It was an opportunity not to be missed out on. “Umm, are you alright?” Nettie’s voice is timid, as she stands in front of Stephen who is reading a crumpled up newspaper which lies in his lap. He looks up, blurred green eyes. “Yeah, I think I’ll manage.” His cracked voice replies, giving a slight smile before returning briefly to his newspaper. She doesn’t believe him. “Can I get you anything?’ her barmaid duties coming in handy for once, at least she could offer him a drink without seeming like a creepy girl desperate for the attention of guys. “Well if you’re offering, I’ll have a Guinness.’ He replies, giving her the same small smile as he looks up to her. She doesn’t believe him for a minute that he wouldn’t have had the drink if she hadn’t have offered him a drink. “Where’s your usual smile gone?” she laughs nervously, worrying that it had sounded slightly over the top to mention his usual smile, as if she was always watching him. Of course she wasn’t, but she had been lucky enough to see his smile before. Stephen smiles dryly “I’m just having a rough patch” his soft voice responds. “Then have it on me, go on” Nettie offers the drink to him, smiling in her usual friendly manner. Billie had been right; he hadn’t made her feel uncomfortable or strange by trying to cheer him up. Nettie had been worrying that he would have stared at her like she was dancing around naked; after all she was so nervous talking to him because of the crazy crush that she had got on him. “Hah, don’t encourage me, one drink is enough anymore and it doesn’t help me at al!” He laughs. He laughed, Nettie smiles gratefully as she feels happy at making him chuckle. Oh Stephen drink more please, Nettie thinks, maybe he would notice her if he was drunk, because really why else would a gorgeous, popular footballer look at her twice in any other situation. She isn’t particularly insecure about her looks, but hell any girl would feel plain and invisible next to these model and Barbie doll type girls that they were always pictured with. “I’ll make sure you don’t over drink then.” Nettie assures him, adding a soft smile with her pink glossed lips. Nettie wasn’t very happy that she has to wonder up the bar a little to serve a patiently waiting customer, hesitantly watching Stephen with a worry that he might wonder off while she was off pouring another beer for a few lads. Her eyes watch him, but he doesn’t move. He seems to be reading his paper again, presumably the sports pages as she couldn’t imagine Stephen being interested in the interest rates or horoscopes. “Well if you need to talk about anything, I’ll be working here until 1am” “So is that service included when I buy a drink?” he asks laughing. She hardly ever made guys laugh, it must be her lucky night she thinks, and she couldn’t quite believe how simple he was making it for her to talk with him. No shaking, no nerves and everything was smooth. It was too good to be true. He smiled, something must be working. She didn’t usually consider guys to be beautiful, usually it would be the latest Chanel bag or a pair of pink Dior heels, but there was something about him which was so angelic and dreamy. “Well, tell me how’s your evening been?” he asks, folding the messy paper up and throwing it casually onto the bar, then looks to Nettie with his big green eyes that she adored. “Nothing more than usual, I’ve been hit on by as many drunken men as on a usual night.” She laughs. It was true; it wasn’t too bad when they were handsome or inoffensive but they were usually loud, rude and unattractive. The opposite of Stephen, who sits at the bar quietly talking to her politely. “No surprise there then” He says quietly, looking down to his beer which he picks up and swigs and afterwards licks the creamy foam off of his lips. “What’s that to mean?’ she says, blushing lobster red with embarrassment. “Well, you’re charming and attractive” He explains and takes another swig out of the Guinness glass. Her eyes light up, her confidence suddenly blooming like a beautiful flower in spring, she was going to wake up any moment now, she was certain that it had to be a dream. “You’re not too bad yourself, and with an accent like that you must be from Ireland, right?” Nettie replies flirtatiously, feeling even surprised with herself at her sudden confidence around him. “Yup, I’m from Dublin.” He confirms, with that trademark smile that she had spent months talking about dreamily with her college friends. “You know, I just wish more girls would talk to me like this.” His smile fading as he looks to Nettie seriously, even with a sense of awkwardness in his tone. “Like what? What do you mean?” Nettie asks sympathetically, sitting down on the bar stool next to him after making sure that there were enough staff on the bar. Did he just compliment her? Seriously, she had hardly ever got any attention from guys apart from the constant drunken guys or the creeps at school who were just after a bit of action. But now she had got maybe 3 compliments in a night from somebody who she considered one of the hottest guys she had set her glossy blue eyes on. “Well, most girls come up with the whole ‘Omg, you’re a footballer, do you like my boobs? I’ve been a naughty girl’ and that sort of thing. It’s just over the top and fake” Stephen sighs, swirling his ringed finger in his half full glass of Guinness. “You’re a footballer?’ Nettie fakes. Of course she knows he is, she had spent all her Maths lessons last year gossiping about him with her friend Becky. She is sure that the majority of her class knew who he was because of them; the teacher was always making them repeat whatever they had whispered to each other about Stephen’s cuteness. “See! Genuine” He smiles “But yeah, I am a footballer, whether I’m good or not is a different question!” he laughs again, his sweet smile appearing again on his face. “Well I’m sure you are! I’ll have to ask my brother, he’ll probably know you.” Nettie smiles, she didn’t plan to ask her brother but grinned at the prospect of bragging to him that she had met a famous footballer and that he had said that she was attractive. “What’s up then anyway?” she asks, zoning back into reality where she is faced with a guy who obviously had something stressful on his mind. “It’s just this girl I’ve been seeing; she’s all like those girls.” He nods over to the other side of the dance floor where a group of under-dressed and giggling girls are dancing around. “There is just too many of them these days, all of the girls who I meet lately. I miss having girls talk to me because they like my personality, or think I’m a fun guy. I want to be successful, but I wish I could have genuine friends and girls as well” “aww, I’m sorry.” Nettie sympathizes, she did genuinely feel sorry for him because he really did seem to want a girl who was after more than the money and fame that came with him. But there again, it was admittedly hard for her to feel completely bad about the situation because it gave her opportunities to become favourable. He had said that she was different to those girls, and that he thought she was attractive, she could be his knight in shining armour… or whatever the female version was. “Like today, I was driving us home from dinner and she starts to undress in my car. I don’t like it, we had been going out for just under two weeks and it was just so..” Stephen rants, as Nettie sighs with relief that he actually hated the slutty sort of girls that she was certain that every footballer was looking for. Was he for real? Even the most clean, down to earth looking footballers still usually went out with the skinniest, sluttiest dressed bimbos, yet Stephen was openly angry about the mere thought. “Oh shut up! You’re such an eejit!” He shouts suddenly, popping Nettie’s thought bubble instantly as she turns in shock to Stephen after his sudden outburst. He was clutching his phone, phew Nettie sighs, afraid that he had been talking to her. But then he gets up, nodding to Nettie politely as he points to his phone which is clutched tightly in his left hand as he walks out of the busy bar door. He was gone, and she hadn’t even got his number or anything which could mean that he could wake up in the morning and realize that Nettie was the girl for him. Nothing. Back to bar duty it is then, Nettie sighs walking back to the bar area where the other girl behind the bar, Claire, smiles somewhat sarcastically as Nettie eyes up the ever growing queue. She silently pleads to god that Stephen would run back in to collect his paper which he had left lying on the beer soaked counter. It seems like a lifetime before, but Nettie finally catches those green eyes again. “So anyway, what’s your name?” He asks, grinning as he sits back down on his stool next to the bar, Nettie overwhelmed with relief as she sets her eyes on him once more. “I’m Nettie, and you?” she answers coolly, feeling so grateful that she was yet to slip up or make a fool out of herself. ‘I’m Stephen” he smiles with that same smile, Nettie returning the smile feeling grateful that he had come back to see her “Maybe you could speak to your friend Billie, we could go on a double date.” “Oh, I don’t know.” Nettie stumbles, Stephen looking back awkwardly “I mean, Billie doesn’t really know anybody to ask to be her date” Nettie asks in a hurry, desperate for Stephen not to think that it was her who was the problem, she would jump at the chance to go on a date with him. Stephen laughs “Well problem solved, I’m good friends with her boyfriend” His grin reappearing on his face, Nettie was pleased that the idea was still available but she was feeling slightly disappointed that Billie hadn’t even told her about her boyfriend. None the less, feeling excited Nettie smiles shaking her blond hair back and walks over to the table where Billie and her friend Kati were talking. She stops just before she gets too close; because she can she that Kati is acting quite emotional as she wipes bleeding eyeliner from underneath her bright eyes. “I just don’t understand why you are being so bossy to me, I hate people telling me what to do!” Kati sobs softly, her soft voice becoming stronger as she looks up to Billie once more. “I don’t want bad things to happen to you.” Billie sighs, her attempts to smile back at Kati failing. “Because I know what it feels like. I know what it feels like to see somebody you love being taken away from you by people who mean nothing to them!!” she shouts, and walks off and out of the bar door where her eyes meet him. He’s standing there watching her, and she freezes. His cold blue eyes are looking down into her erratic hazel eyes. It is him. What did he want? There were so many questions in her mind at the present time, Billie felt like her head might actually implode. She hated him so much, but she loved him even more. |

I'm glad you both liked it!! This part is a bit long.. but ah well! I hope you like it.. I'll give the credit to Kati for her German parts in this, I put in brackets what it means incase you don't understand. I've got another part for afterwards, but I don't want to post it now because if you see any of it, it will ruin the mystery! It is a dry and chilly night and the street is fairly dim apart from the fuzzy lights coming from the house at the end of the street, which is almost buzzing from the loud music. The chilly wind picks up, blowing aggressively at the thin trees which line the wide street, and occasionally blowing the odd brown leaves around the empty street. They get nearer and nearer to the house at the end, Billie guiding the others along the rain stained pavement in the darkening night. She holds onto Nettie’s shaking hand to comfort her from the nerves, and Nettie squeezes back appreciatively. Kati opens the front door with a smile, looking to Billie who was dressed in a short red dress matched with a pair of red heels which had a cute bow placed on top. Kati’s smile soon fades once Billie walks past her and she sees James standing behind her. “What are you doing here?” Kati asks, her dry eyes flickering from the wooden hallway to his alert blue eyes. It sounded differently to how she meant It, she’d made It sound like she was upset that he’d turned up, but she was so relieved that he’d come. Well she was in some way. James’ eyes watch her “I wanted to come. If you have a problem, I’ll leave. Areet?” She shakes her head softly “I don’t. I wanted you to come.” Neither are sure whether the other is telling the whole true about wanting to come, James thinks that she is only saying so because she feels guilty and Kati thinks he’s saying it only because Billie had pressured him into coming tonight. Kati looks up, and smiles to Billie, and the blonde haired girl next to her who she remembers as Nettie. Nettie follows James into the front room, and Kati then sees two other guys who had come along presumably with Billie and Nettie. “This is Aiden” Billie says, putting her arm around Aiden’s shoulder affectionately. He smiles to Kati, his big green eyes looking at her welcomingly as he then looks to Billie with the same smile and takes her black leather jacket off her. Kati is sure that she had seen a photo of Aiden on Billie’s phone before, and she is sure that he is the guy that she had refused to talk about. He confirms her suspicions when he puts out his left hand and says “It’s great to meet you” in a thick Glaswegian accent. She then looks to the other guy who stands beside Aiden with a small grin on his face, of course Kati had already met him, it was Stephen one of James’ friends, and also he was one of her favourite footballers. Kati invites them into the main room where everybody is dancing to the latest Basshunter album, and slips off to the kitchen after asking them what drinks they would like. “It feels so good to be back around you.” Aiden says, popping open the two top buttons of his black polo shirt as he holds out his hand to Billie. “I need to talk to you, Aiden” Billie states, holding onto his sweaty hands tighter as they mix into the crowd of dancing people, who are dancing wildly “Yeah, it’s great. I’m so happy that I’ve found you again.” He grins, running his warm hands through her wavy brown hair, which she had attempted to curl this afternoon, and failed miserably. Aiden however seemed to really like her hair like this, in fact Billie was sure that he was heading for the compliment world record at this rate. But he hadn’t heard her. Billie blushes, feeling rather frustrated as they sway to the heavy music in the living room. Now wasn’t the right time, she’d tell him later. Either way she needed to speak to him at some point in the evening, it had taken her a few days to get used to the idea that he was still around and she is feeling a rare mood of confidence, something which should be valued if you’re Billie. She had been desperate to speak to him about it since a month back when she had moved down to Birmingham, whether or not she would have gone through with the conversation was a different matter. How else will he ever know that she had seen him with her, his hands all over her, something which Billie couldn’t stop thinking about. “You look so great tonight” a soft voice comes from behind Kati in the kitchen, she feels his arms wrap around her from behind her as she turns around to hug him. His warm smiles greets her as she pulls away from his hug, she was glad that he had decided to come along tonight, he seemed to give her a more relaxed feeling and help her ever shrinking confidence. She looked great? He was the one who was looking great, he wearing a plain white shirt matched with his black jeans and posh black cardigan, before tonight she had only seen him in his sports clothes. He suited smart. Sexy, sexy Semih, she thought to herself. “I’m glad you came” Kati smiles to him, looking into his dark, dark eyes which were totally mysteriously but so friendly and gentle at the same time. She walks over to the kitchen door and closes it off, so that the blasting music from the adjacent room is a lot quieter. “Do you want a drink?” she asks him, using her flirty smile playfully as she approaches the fridge, opening the doors wide in front of her before grabbing two cans of beer. It has to be German beer, she didn’t think he would drink anything else, and to be honest neither would she. “Ah, a girl after my own heart” Semih smiles, taking the can of Bavarian beer of her thankfully and sits himself down on the high stools next to the breakfast bar. “Sit down, please.” He asks, Kati stopping putting the empty used glasses into the sink full of water and looking towards him, as he beckons for her to join him by patting the stool next to him. “I had a really good time the other night” he smiles, stroking her soft hand with his own. She smiles, remembering how they had been dancing crazily to Basshunter in a club somewhere in Birmingham. She could remember stumbling into his house, falling onto his bed as he kissed her and then hazily waking up in the morning looking into his dark eyes. “You need to come and dance, enjoy yourself!” he smiles, taking a swig of his beer and then points towards the tall white door which jumps slightly with the dull bass of the music. “Do you want to come and dance with me?” “Let’s dance here.” She says, flashing him a nervy smile as she slides herself off the stool and holds out for his hand. She winces slightly as her now bare feet touch against the cold black tiles; his warm hand clutches hers tightly as the move along to the music. Kati thought that it would have been awkward, after all they had only met last week and barely spoken since, but it didn’t. Why couldn’t all relationships be like this? He was charming, handsome and liked her, yet he hadn’t shown one sign of being creepy, jealous or sex-obsessed. It might have just been because the song sang ‘no-one else makes my heart beat this way’, but she was suddenly feeling crazy about him. She didn’t want to let go of his hand, whilst he held onto her tightly, the way he was as the danced, nothing seemed like it could go wrong. His lips are so soft; it’s almost perfect as they dance together in the dimly lit kitchen, his rosy lips kissing hers so delicately and romantically. She’d never really experienced the whole idea of romance before, all the other guys she had been with had been slags, and that was the best that she’d had. He holds her so close to his body as they continue to sway mindlessly to the music, his lips still kissing hers as she begins to lose a grip on the world. “Liebe, you need to relax a bit! Your heart is beating like crazy, are you feeling fine?” he asks, pulling away from her slightly, not convinced that everything was fine with her, maybe she didn’t want to dance with him he thinks with fear. Of course her heart was beating crazier than anything could, and every time he smiled at her or held her close she couldn’t believe that he was hers. “I’m nervous.” She blushes childishly, but he thinks that it’s cute as her cheeks flush a pink red colour and match with her delicate lips. “I’ve just had a strange few weeks.” She explains, holding back onto his hand supportively as she looks into his deep eyes for comfort. His hand grips her back, squeezing onto her hand with his. “If you need to talk, just say so.” He smiles awkwardly, sensing a strong feel of discomfort, he knew that she didn’t feel like talking about it, why would she share something like that with a guy she had only just met. She was ready, she was ready to start a fresh, start again without her old ties to her boyfriend and all the trouble she had with Kris. There was something about his dark gentle eyes and soft calm voice which made her feel safe and peaceful. But then ‘he’ walks through the door and everything seems to come back into her mind again, his blue eyes watch her and all she can think about is how much she loves him. She did, she had to why else would somebody put themselves through so much if they didn’t think the person was worth it? “das ist er?”(That is him?) he asks, he decides to speak in German so that the subject of their conversation won’t know what they are saying. He loved being able to speak in his language, especially with a girl, it made him like them more. Kati nods softly „Ja, er ist meine letztes freude.“(Yeah, he's my ex-boyfriend) Then she looks to ‘him’, her eyes fleeing his and returning to Semih’s immediately. There was such a difference between them, Semih’s were dark and gentle, yet ‘his’ were unnaturally unwelcoming and bitter. Unusual, because she had always loved staring into his endlessly deep bright blue eyes, but now they seemed to only have big warning signs on. „dann was machst du jetzt?“(So, what are you going to do now?) he asks, watching her disappointingly with his dark brown eyes. “du sollst sich errichte, dass ich du liebst”(You should remember that I love you) As cheesy as that sounded to him, he is partly telling the truth, he did care about her and wanted to be there for her, but after only knowing her for a week or so he doesn’t think ‘love’ could really be there. „ja, und ich du auch. Du bist so suuss” (Yeah, and I love you too, you're so sweet) Kati sighs “aber ich liebe er, ich weiss nicht warum, nur dass ich er liebe.“ (But I love him, I don't know why I do, I only know that I love him) „wenn dass richtig ist, dass du er liebst, dann du musst mit er sprechen.“(If that's true, that you love him, then you have to speak to him) He says slowly, holding onto her hand tighter, he didn’t want to say that but he knew that it was right to do so. Maybe they would speak and she would realize that they weren’t meant to be, and then her mind would be so much clearer and less confused and he would have been there for her. “Ja, Ich muss”(Yes, I have to) she says softly, looking again towards her now ex-boyfriend feeling desperate for any sign of affection, anything. Then she looks back to Semih “Ich werde mit du spaeter sprechen. Denkst du dass er mich liebt?” (I'll speak with you later. Do you think that he loves me?) He smiles dryly, he wants to get away now, his mind racing with sadness as he watches her go from being all over him, to now thinking that her ex loves her. “Vielliecht. Auswiedersehen, meine liebe.” (Maybe. See you later darling) He says, looking back at her before walking out of the kitchen door, the pumping music filling the kitchen for a few seconds before the door is closed again and Kati is left alone with him. “Sprechen sie Deustch, then” he teases, jumping up onto one of the breakfast bar stools where Semih had been previously sitting. “I didn’t know that.” “Yes, there is a lot of things you don’t know about me.” She say with a pout before returning back to washing the dirty drinks glasses again. She needed a distraction, because her mind was bursting with things that she wanted to say and do to him which she knew that she couldn’t. “What do you want? Why did you even come, I’m trying to get over you and then you just turn up like that!” Kati whines, holding onto the shimmering wine glass tightly. She knew that he had probably only came innocently, but it just frustrated her that she seemed to be close to feeling good again and he walks in. Typical. “I wanted to speak to you, I wanted to see you.” He says, sliding off the stool and walking towards her “I still want to be with you, even if you did cheat on me.” “Don’t even bring that up, okay?” She says through gritted teeth. She was drunk and angry, that was what people didn’t get about it, and she hated being made out to be the bad one. If only people knew what he did to her, the pain that he made her suffer then people would be all over her like a rash with their sympathy and anger towards him. But she loved him too much to do that to him. He was obviously different. |

“What’s wrong with you two, seriously?” Billie shouts later that evening, after appearing in the kitchen doorway hours after the party had finished. “Come on, there’s something going on, it affects me so I think I have the right to know about whatever it is.” Billie pleads, but it sounds more like an order because both he and Kati shift their eyes away from Billie guiltily, none of them daring to look her in the eyes. “It’s not important; just focus on your job, alright?” she says, trying to be patient as he paces slowly up and down the black tiled floor. “Aw, come on!” Kati cries, her hand shooting to her hip “You turned up here looking for a job, and you’d come over 300 miles and you say that the reasons you moved weren’t important for us to know, and then you refuse to talk about it at all!” She was right, how was she supposed to know if it was safe or not, for all she knew right now Billie could be on the run for something she had done in Glasgow, not that she looked the type. But it was a possibility that she was, it didn’t help at all that Billie was so determined to keep her personal life undercover so much. “See, I work for you though so I need to know what’s going on!” Billie whines to him, she wasn’t particularly fond of the whole situation which could lead herself into trouble, she wasn’t going to stand down though either. “I need to know because I have to look after you, do you see?” “But the trust needs to be both ways then.” Kati starts, she stops pacing to pick up a drink out of the fridge. “If we’re going to be friends and confide in each other, we need to know that you will do the same with us if you’re in trouble, yeah?” He laughs quietly, not a loud proper laugh, but it’s low and it’s met with a rolling of his heavily lidded eyes. “Do you really want to know then?” he asks, stepping closer to the doorway as he drinks out of the wine glass. “Yes” Billie says instantly, her deep brown eyes darting between the two of them innocently, curiosity getting the better of her promise to keep out of everything. “Do you really want to know the truth?” Kati laughs hysterically, clutching the shimmering wine glass tighter, the white wine splashing up the glass. “Do you really want to know, the fucked up truth?” she asks again in almost a scream, her laugh has been swallowed and her expression is more sincere and sadness fills her previously hysterical phrase. Billie nods, taken aback by the on going show of emotions in the past few minutes, her head watching between the two of them who both just stare lifelessly into thin air. She couldn’t even begin to think what could possibly be so ‘fucked up’ that both of them would be standing in the kitchen close to tears at 3am on a Saturday night. “I’m in love with her” James says, sitting down instantly on the soft stool as the words escape from his mouth finally, “Fucked up, or what?” his sharp, bold words burst into the open as he slams his head into his arms. Raising her eyebrow up with curiosity, Billie steps forwards in a more or less robot fashion, before her exclamation of “Wait, what?” which is echoed by Kati’s similar outburst of confusion. Both sets of eyes almost watering with confusion, more so Kati’s which are flickering manically and finally find James. “Billie, I love her.” James’ soft eyes are pleading with Billie to act calmly, as his voice is soft and honest, and then he looks to Kati who just continues to stare manically into thin air. Her mouth hanging open in shock as her eyes blink continuously staring right at the fridge “But, but you’re cousins, isn’t that wrong or something?” her confused voice asks innocently; whilst her curious glances fail to catch either pair of eyes. She stands there completely still, frozen with shock as she waits impatiently for an answer. The quite whisper of crickets from the small bushes outside fills the room, which had been deadly silent. Billie couldn’t take it in, it was all too much information, but she had asked for it and somehow she was going to sort out the confusion in her mind. “We’re not cousins.” Kati says loudly, as she rejoins the conversation and muffles out the constant buzz from the outside traffic. “He’s just…James.” She adds, thinking about saying something more but leaves it at that for now. “You can’t say anything, nobody else knows about this” he adds urgently, grabbing Billie by the shoulder gently as she nods assertively, the urgency in his voice obvious. “Emily, what about Emily? What about your kids?” Billie asks, a few things clicking together in her head but it is like a jigsaw which had a piece missing, it still didn’t quite fit right, and the picture wasn’t looking right “Do you love her?” her question is thrown out into the kitchen, both Billie and Kati freezing on the spot for an answer. Billie had become somewhat defendant of her female boss, despite hardly speaking to her she felt they had a connection and began to grow angry at both of them. After all, Billie knew how it felt to be in Emily’s position “We’re married” he responds, which he didn’t even seem to understand because his eyes are twitching and the voice wavered unconfidently as he said it, perhaps wondering how it made sense. But he just stares out of the window, whilst picking up a cigarette from the kitchen counter and shoves it aggressively between his lips. “I asked if you love her, do you?” Billie says in an almost yell, taking control of the conversation as once again both Kati and Billie are watching James’ reaction and waiting on him for a response. Billie is just curious to find out more, and Kati is waiting, waiting for the answer because her happiness depends on it. If he says yes, that he loves Emily Kati had promised herself that she would walk out straight away and never see him again, but she hoped to the end of the earth that this wasn’t the case. It couldn’t be, could it? He had just said that he loved her, the ordinary waitress from Birmingham. But how could she compete against Emily? She was beautiful, glamorous and so much sophisticated than she could ever dream of being. “What does it matter to you?” he asks bitterly, turning to Kati whose expression is somber and painful, his mouth opens slightly as if he was thinking about saying something, but he can’t and instead turns back to Billie “Come on, we’re going now.” Billie looks to Kati with her tired eyes, she doesn’t say anything but she gives her one of those looks which means ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know what to do’ and she scurries after James who had stormed off to the car without saying another word. “James? Fuck” Kati mumbles. She stands alone in the kitchen, her only company being the tears which drain out of her tired eyes. |

It was perfect. Everything was perfect; of course it had to be because Nettie had checked it over 500 times at least by now. Her figure hugging black dress was perfectly accessorized with a clip on white flower which she had stuck on the front of her dress. She had received a text message from Billie earlier, telling her that there was going to be another couple eating with them tonight, but there was nothing which could bring Nettie’s mood down, or indeed make her more nervous. It wasn’t that she felt really uncomfortable around Stephen, but the idea that he was interested in her was something she’d dream of, her every worry about how she could mess everything up. No, make that ‘would mess everything up’ because she guaranteed that she would mess up in some way, Nettie was willing to put all the money in her bank on that. She sighs, looking into the shimmering mirror in front of her, as she is suddenly awoken by the groan of a car engine outside. She froze, he was finally here, and surely it couldn’t be 8pm already?! She slide up the screen of her sleek silver phone, which only confirmed that it was in fact 7:58 pm. He was 2 minutes early. She wasn’t sure whether this meant that he was in a rush and wanting to get their date over and done with or whether it meant that he was actually looking forward to it. Nettie didn’t have time to decide, she could hear him knocking on her door, her loud gulp following as she scurries across to her bed to grab her white Prada handbag. After quickly and desperately checking her appearance in the mirror, she picks up her pink door keys and skips down the stairs as fast as she could in her 5 inch shimmering black stilettos. “Evening” Nettie gasps, as she opens the front door of her small apartment to Stephen, who greets her with his usual Irish grin. It was back, the grin which had been in hiding last time Nettie had seen him. “This is for you, Nettie.” His grin broadening as he hands her a soft single white rose. Nettie holds onto it gently, her immaculately painted nails gripping it tight. It was plastic. Nettie looks up to Stephen with a slight look of confusion on her face. “It was too beautiful to die; I wanted you to keep it.” The sweet happy smile returns to Nettie’s face as he explains. He sounded so sweet, why on earth was he interested in her? It couldn’t be right, he sounded like a perfect gentleman to Nettie, so why did he complain that he only attracted the money grabbing slags? Surely there must be some classy, elegant, beautiful girls who would love to date somebody just like him. So wasn’t going to complain though, it was unbelievable for her something which made her think that she was about to wake up any minute from the dream. “Are you ready?” He asks her suddenly, stroking her hand slightly as she brushes through her shimmering blonde hair, nodding as she looks to him coyly. She can see Billie is standing outside of ‘el restaurante del Sevilla’, her short green dress blowing dramatically in the wind as Aiden tries to stop it blowing too high up and revealing much more than was wanted. They looked so sweet together, Nettie thinks as Stephen pulls the car up to the side of the street opposite the restaurant. Nettie couldn’t understand why Billie hadn’t mentioned Aiden before to her, he seemed so sweet to her all of the time, he was always trying to please her and have everything perfect for her. Nettie only wishes that she could have a guy who acted that way for her, but having a guy who was possibly interested in her was good enough for now. Especially when he had deadly cute green Irish eyes which always seemed to be smiling at her, and his sweet grin which always made her smile whenever it popped into her head. The restaurant was warm inside, too warm for Nettie who was already feeling flushed sitting next to Stephen who kept holding her hand softly when he spoke to Liam or Billie. Nettie felt thankful that the topic of conversation tended to focus on Liam and Linda, more than Stephen and herself which she had been panicking that it would have been. She felt sorry for Liam; she knew how much she was dreading the same thing happening to her so she could sympathize with him there. “So, you seriously chose to go all the way to France to have Sunday lunch with her parents than go to your best friend’s stag party?” Billie laughs, unable to believe that Liam could be either such a sweet young man or well, as Billie thought, stupid. “I wanted to” Liam blushes slightly as he shoves more potato into his mouth. “I can’t believe I missed Gaz’s stag party, it sounded like the biggest thing ever” Stephen laughs, nodding in agreement as he puts his knife and fork down onto his empty plate. He chews his food hastily, with obvious desperation to say something. “So no part of you wanted to re-arrange your little trip to join us on the wild two day ride of tequila and beer fueled dancing?” Stephen laughs, pushing his plate away from him and leaning over to talk to Liam. “There was even a Guinness fountain. Just for me, I’m told.” Billie and Nettie sit across the table from each other awkwardly, both eyeing each other up knowing fully well that most stag parties usually involved under-dressed girls of some sort. Especially with the reputation Gaz had, it was more certain than the sun rising in the morning. Neither however wanted to think about the possibility of their dates being involved with that, either wanted them to even think that they had even suspected it. “I think we know who wears the trousers in your relationship!” Nettie laughs, nudging Liam cheekily and eats more of her paella as the others around her laugh except Linda who had arrived back from the bathrooms and stands at the foot of the table. Her eyes dart over to Liam in the far corner of the table, who hurriedly stuffs his face with food to avoid saying anything. Linda sighs, shaking her head with a bare grin appearing onto her face before she swirls away from the table, her long black dress trailing after her as she stalks out of the door. She turns around as she feels Liam walk out behind her, her warm breath breaking into the cold air as she faces him outside of the restaurant. “I can’t believe you” She pouts, the corners of her eyes collecting the ever breeding tears “Why didn’t you say anything? Do you agree with them?” Finally a small tear trickling down her pink cheeks. Her eyes bursting with tears now, it was almost like an English river bursting its banks in winter. “It’s not like that, of course I don’t agree with them!” Liam protests “They’re my friends; I didn’t know what to do.” He whines, holding out for Linda’s hand as the wind begins to dance around them aggressively, but she shakes it away and turns away again. “Leave it Liam, if you really loved me you would have stuck up for me.” Linda cries, walking off faster in front of Liam who jogs after her desperately. “You just sat there laughing.” Liam sighs, messing his hand through his hair as he continues to march after Linda. “Linda!” He calls after her, sprinting over the road as he watches her dodge the cars driving in the road. He runs after her, he won’t lose sight of her as she carries on running away, no specific destination in mind. She is just seems to be going wherever he is not, but he is determined to follow her, for her to understand. “Linda, please!” he calls, she starts to disappear more and more into the town traffic now, it’s getting harder and harder for him to pick her out, her black dress hardly making it any easier for him. But then he sees her. But this time he doesn’t want to. He is too far away, too far away for Linda to hear him shout, too far away to do anything. Too far away to tell her about the sports car that speeds around the corner. He is too far away to stop her being hit, and he just runs, runs to her because this time she can’t run away from him. |

Thanks for reading & the comments girls! <3 :) I've got quite a bit to post, so I'll post some now! :D “It’s not that easy, you know that.” He whines “I’ve got a family to look after; I can’t just walk out on them. You haven’t got anything to lose, you don’t understand.” “Nothing to lose?!” She protests, pouting at her intensely “I could be wasting my time; I want to know if all this time and energy will be worth it, or if you’ll just go back to her after all this.” Kati sighs deeply, stroking the sides of her glass attentively as she does anything to get away from his glares. She was desperate for his attention, she really was, but she knew that she had to act like she was truly thinking about giving up on him so that he would do something about their complete mess of a situation. “Well what do you want me to say?” He asks gently, trying to be as supportive to her as possible while at all times keeping cool and not seeming too keen, or to show his franticness to get her back on his side. “I don’t want you to say anything. Do something about it, instead of telling what you’re going to do” He holds out hopefully across the pub table for her hands. “I can’t do this.” Kati protests, she shoves his arms away from her as she flicks her hair as she pretends to be interested in her drink. Her eyes can’t meet his; instead she decides to stare at his lips as her eyes continue to dodge his. “I’ve got to phone somebody” she says finally, watching him lovingly as she walks out of the bar with her phone firmly clutched in her hand. Nettie couldn’t hear her phone. She had been sitting in the passenger seat of Stephen’s black mini for the past half an hour, as they drove around an unfamiliar area of Birmingham, searching desperately for a club which Liam had recommended to them. The music was blasting out of the speakers, calming Nettie down as she thanks it silently that there is no need for awkward conversation to fill the long drawn out silences. They would still speak, but it wasn’t necessary to do so constantly which left Nettie precious time to think up something interesting or funny to talk to him about. “Down here?” Stephen asks as they pull up to a dimly lit cross road. Like Stephen, Nettie was still pretty new to the city so she hadn’t quite got used to the long winding streets, and especially not the smaller passage ways in the little light of the night. She had only moved to Birmingham a few months ago when her older brother’s job needed him to relocate to Solihull, and having always dreamt of living in England, Nettie decided that she too would move to Birmingham. It was perfect for her; she couldn’t believe how easily she adjusted to life here. She found the weather and coolness refreshing, there was just the finest selection of shops that she could imagine, and she had grasped the local accent almost perfectly. Of course, moving to Birmingham also meant that she had met people she felt at one with. Nettie shrugs her shoulders sadly. She wasn’t going to know where this club was. She had only lived in the city for a few months, and out of those few months she had concentrated the majority of that on her University degree and even enjoyed working at the pub in the evenings. She didn’t know. “Alright. I’ll ask somebody down here” Stephen explains nodding down to where he could see a few people standing outside a dimly light bar, sliding the window as he pulls the car up to the curb. They all seem to be standing in a huddle near the dustbin, where the closest woman flicks her cigarette ash into to after taking a long drag. As Stephen stops the car beside them, a few of the women closest to the car turn around and look to Stephen and then glance into the passenger seat where Nettie sits. “Excuse me, can you help me please?” he asks finally, once he has their attention. “Can we help you?” One of the girls asks Stephen flirtatiously as she leans forwards to the car window, inches away from Stephen’s face who, to Nettie’s relief, backs away from the closeness a little. Nettie furrows her brows in disgust; she wasn’t one to pass judgment on people that she didn’t know, but the way that these girls standing outside were dressed only erupted repulsion inside of Nettie. “I’m sure we could, couldn’t we Lisa?” the taller girl says in a louder voice, looking over to group of chatting girls further away as this girl stands up straight again and her, what can only be described as a skirt, rides up her legs even higher. The other girl next to her cranes her neck slightly to look inside of the car, her eyes watching Nettie intensely. What was it that they found so interesting about her? As she watches the other group of girls outside of the club she can see a girl, which Nettie presumes as Lisa, start to walk over towards the car, also equipped with an outfit which wouldn’t look out of place in a lingerie shop. Her tiny red skirt matching with her dark blood red lipstick which forms an arrogant pout as she finally reaches the car. “So, you’re looking for a good time honey?” Lisa asks, her red polished nails scraping through her long dark red hair, as she waits for an answer from Stephen. He looks to Nettie swiftly, his embarrassment obvious as pinkness shows through his tanned cheeks. She too cranes her neck slightly as she leans to look inside the car, her eyes freezing as soon as they do. “Stephen” she says with a high tone in her voice, making Nettie feel immediately insecure and awkward. She knew him, Nettie felt so plain next to these confident, pretty albeit fake, girls who had been staring at him. Even though they had only been looking at him, the thought of it made Nettie feel sick. She couldn’t stand the idea of them being interested in the guy of her dreams. What if he liked them back, maybe he did, Nettie just shakes her head softly and looks out of the opposite window to where the girls are stood. “Lisa, what’s going on?” Stephen asks, poking his head out of the car window to get a better look at her. It was almost completely dark now, only the soft buzzing lights from the signs outside of the bar in front were preventing total darkness. Nettie feels invisible now. “Babe, you didn’t call me for days, what’s going on?” she asks him loudly, watching for the reaction from her friends and by the way she was watching Nettie, hers too. She holds onto his hand tightly as she watches him flirtatiously, her glances always reverting to fall on Nettie. “Don’t you want more of me?” she asks leaning through the car window and putting her head close to his. She can’t stand this. Nettie is so confused, she doesn’t know what’s going on, but she doesn’t think she wants to know by the way things are looking. This Lisa girl just stands there in the care window flirting furiously with Nettie’s date, with no consideration for Nettie’s feelings whatsoever. What was Stephen doing talking to a serial slut, who now come to think of it was most likely a prostitute, surely a guy like him wouldn’t be into that sort of thing. Not sweet, polite Irish Stephen. Perhaps she didn’t know him very well at all then. Nettie slips out of the car door without another thought, taking her silver LV bag with her as she begins to walk away from the car as fast as possible. “Babe your sister’s going somewhere” Lisa points out, redirecting Stephens attention as he catches sight of Nettie scurrying down the street to the left, the light fading away fast. “Feck” he mumbles, before rapidly accelerating after Nettie. “Nettie, wait, please” he calls after her as he reaches the pavement where she is escaping down. She either doesn't see him coming after her, or she knows that he is, but decides not to care. |
