did england play yesterday against slovenia?
i saw something on tv, but i wasn't sure whether that was a live game or not...
The under 21's played them last night.

This is a load of crap tonite! I really don't get why Beckham is still playing, we seem to play him in the hope that he will put in a good free kick once or twice in a game cos that is all he can offer us tbh now. He's had a mare today.
I don't have a clue what system we are playing who is playing where, anything. Someone on the tv just said we are 9-1 favourites to win the world cup  Thats a joke! Even if we go on to win 4-2 there are alot of questions that need answering if we are going to even qualify for the world cup let alone get anywhere near winning it.

Also i really hate that some of the fans in the stadium always boo the other teams national anthem at the beginning of games, it's been done for years but it needs to stop.

On a possitive note tho, Bye Bye Barwick
What a shame  He's made a joke of the fa, be nice if they could get someone who actually knew about football in next.

Also Frank should just retire from internation football if he is going to get booed off the pitch whenever he plays, he doesn't deserve it! In the qualifiers he wasn't great but neither were alot of players and it's not fair he gets singled out! It's like when Hargreaves use to get booed for no reason what so ever, it's pathetic.
I like and respect Beckham but I agree with you on that.
I hardly see him playing but when I do now it doesn't look passionate like he used to, there is no hunger in him anymore. Like Brazillian Ronaldo is a bit older than Becks but at least he can manage to play a decent game, Ronaldo does not get any headliners these days but he's still decent.

For two world cups that I've seen, 2002 was a bit more interesting and less boring, at least there was drama in the english team, and many players got injured (odd that they all suffered from the same injury, broken metatarsals) and the Squad wasn't all great. Well they did have Scholes, who is a good player. The 2002 Squad was okay.

The English squad of 2006 was suppose to be "the best english squad" and I admit on paper it was, but when it came to playing, I do not know what happened, they had all the names, players that everyone in the world recognised and admired their skills but... was it the players lack of communication ,bad managerial direction or both?

This then goes to the future of English National team football, I dunno if its bright but I hope John Terry could bring some hunger in the squad. I mean Becks is an awesome bloke, but they were so-so captained under him.

In response to Frank issue, I understand that some English fans are territorial, but I don't understand why certain English fans boo a national team member, the player may play from Liverpool , Man U or Chelsea, but when they play for England, they are playing for the nation, why get territorial when they are representing the whole nation, thats why I think that is one problem for the english NT and also the obvious, the media.
It is indeed lame that Frank gets booed for playing for Chelsea, and Hargreaves for being Canadian born and played in the Bundesliga (hey at least he chose to play for the team and he's bloody decent player too, probably the best in 2006 World Cup).

random: jimmy bullard got a call didn't he, he's a fantastic player.

Squad for Andorra and Croatia away
Quote:

Robinson (Blackburn), James (Portsmouth), Green (West Ham); Lescott (Everton), Bridge (Chelsea), A Cole (Chelsea), Terry (Chelsea), Brown (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Johnson (Portsmouth), Upson (West Ham); Barry (Aston Villa), J Cole (Chelsea), Lampard (Chelsea), Bullard (Fulham), Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Downing (Middlesbrough), Bentley (Tottenham), Jenas (Tottenham); Walcott (Arsenal), Rooney (Manchester United), Defoe (Portsmouth), Heskey (Wigan).

Capello has made a big mistake not including Owen, i know he's not always been fit but he's goal scoring record is amazing, much better than anyone else. Rooney hasn't had a match winning proformance for England since Euro 2004 imo and hasn't even got goals, can't see what walcott has done to deserve a call up and who knows what we are going to get with Defoe and Heskey.
Owen is the only real goal threat we have and he's left him out
And where is Ashley Young? Beckham shouldn't be in the squad!
Also Lescott has been awful for Everton this season so far, Woodgate would be the better option he's been really good so far especially when they played us yesterday. I thought he was brilliant!

Oooh the striking options are poor. Owen should be included, he's a goalscorer and proven at international level, the other strikers aren't.

Becks, when he played last time, he kept trying to win the ball back but while he was doing that he's leaving the right wing wide open.

Andorra shouldn't be too difficult but croatia, hmm.

Well...I must say, the first half of England-Andorra was complete CRAP! Andorra (bless them, half of them found out that they were going to be playing England last week through a phone call) were trying their best to push England and then in the second half, England found a way to get those goals in.

Croatia-England should be very, very interesting!

I wouldn't use the word interesting, 90 minutes of hell more like. I'll be happy as long as we come away with a draw and we play ok.

I didn't see the whole game cos i was out last night but i watch the "highlights". Didn't think we started too badly but the rest of the game i just thought we looked so average. We need to step it up big time for Wednesday or we could be embarrassed.

I liked the we hate setanta chants from the england fans at the game tho

Well...if they learned a lesson from Euro qualifiers, then they should be able to put up some kind of a fight. Plus, a few of them are injured.
