I'm going to make a fantasy football wing so we can all get excited for this tournament... Ok...if you're interested in a little fantasy football, the code is 59006-10594. Don't let me be the only one in it  |

I feel sorry for that one person though. Other teams have called up players and then they have to let 4 or 5 go but with Italy its just the one, id feel so sorry for them whoever they are! Yeah good news with Del Piero and Cassano, i have to say i didn't expect Cassano but then ive not seen an awfully lot of him tbh so ive not seen him that much and then he got the ban for quite a few games didnt he? |

Well Cassano I have had a lot of mixed emotions with overtime lol, loved when him and Francesco were at their best together and wish they still were. Then was very upset with the fallout and when he left for Real Madrid, but he never took off there really. This season he was on loan at Sampdoria and it was somewhat like he wished he hadnt left Roma. He is someone whose emotions can really really get away from him. Like this year he got 2 yellow cards so he would be sent off, and suspended for Samps trip to Roma, and he like threw a fit on the field and started crying and yelling. Just one example, but despite the risk of something like that happening in the Euro's he really can be an amazing player. If you want read his wiki page, its good entertainment ;) , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Cassano |

I think (hope) Aquilani cemented his place in the squad because he was really good today in the Coppa final, and Don was there, and I think he might have brought Montolivo in case he wasnt 100% yet. |

The new Europass ball was designed to give the flight path a bit more swerve and, in turn, make the games a bit more exciting for the viewers - not unsimilar to the way they designed the ball for World Cup 2006 (there were some first day examples when Germany took on Costa Rica). Makes the fans happy, makes the players striking the ball happy more often than not (especially when their easy save winds up in the back of the net), but it doesn’t seem to be making goalkeepers happy. In particular the Italian duo of Gigi Buffon and Marco Amelia. Buffon, for one, isn’t worried: “Maybe we just have to get used to it. But it won’t matter, I’ll get the ball anyway.” Of course he will, he’s Gigi Buffon. Amelia was a bit more critical in his assessment, even though it’ll take a catastrophic injury for him to get off the bench. Marco (who is also up for sale and his agent would love for you to know that, shameless whore that he is), says the ball is heavy and that: “It changes direction. To not make a mess trying to stop it, it’s better to beat it away.” So maybe we’ll be seeing more rebounds than we’re used to, which could result in more goals and more goals equals more fun. Unless you’re a keeper. http://euro2008.worldcupblog.org/news/new-...y.html#more-401 |

Final Day Euro Roster Cuts May 28th has come, and with it, the deadline for final roster announcements ahead of Euro 2008. The questions of who will stay and who will go are answered. Clue: the guy in the picture looks unhappy for a reason. Here are the highlights. I’ll add to the list as things develop today. Group A: Turkey Ibrahim Kas, Halil Altintop and Yildiray Basturk found themselves without a chair when the music stopped today. Kas is a bit of a surprise, considering his great season for Getafe, and the fact that fellow right back Gokham Gonul left the squad earlier with a knee injury. Group B: Germany Young talent was on the cutting room floor for the Germans, as Patrick Helmes, Jermaine Jones and Marko Marin found themselves out of the final roster. Marin seemed to be Joachim Loew’s golden boy, but at only 19, he’s got plenty of time to make his way onto the German side. Group B: Poland Roger Guereirro, who has been officially Polish for just over a month now, is on the final squad for Poland’s debut at the European Championships. The Brazilian-born winger comes in at the expense of fellow midfielder Radoslaw Majewski, and striker Radoslaw Matusiak is also out. Group B: Austria The happy hosts with their oh-so-supportive fans released their roster, which is available here on the Austria World Cup Blog. Group C: France Bafétimbi Gomis had made Raymond Domenech’s life much more difficult this week. Once a favorite for the cutting block ahead of today’s roster announcement, Gomis came out in his first cap yesterday against Ecuador and scored twice. The last time a Frenchman scored twice in his debut, they called him Zizou. Whether Gomis is the next Zidane is up for debate, but he’s on the squad, and he’s taking the place of none other than Djibril Cisse. Also missing are new Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini and injured Roma defender Philippe Mexes :( . Group C: Italy The Don has spoken, and the unlucky winner of the last cut from the Euro 2008 Italy roster is Riccardo Montolivo. The Fiorentina midfielder will remain the first alternate if a player is injured before the start of the tournament, but for now Donadoni is sticking with all six of his original striker options, and only seven midfielders. Group C: Netherlands Marco van Basten finalized his roster with the axing of Sevilla defender Khalid Boulahrouz, going instead with Wigan’s Mario Melchiot. Group C: Romania Victor Piturca’s final squad is one striker lighter than it was yesterday, as Dinamo Bucharest forward Florin Bratu was sent packing today. This is going to be a controversial move, as Bratu is arguably the best of the young crop of Romanian strikers, and ended the season in good form for his club. The Tricolorii now have just four strike options left. http://euro2008.worldcupblog.org/news/fina...oster-cuts.html |
