ALEX McLEISH admits that some of his Birmingham players have blown their futures at the club.

The Brum boss plans a busy January in the transfer market after seven weeks analysing his squad.

And last weekend’s tame FA Cup defeat at Huddersfield has made the clear-out much easier.

McLeish said: “Everybody has had an opportunity now.

“Some of them had a bad day at the office up at Huddersfield. They had their opportunity and could not take it.”

McLeish wants Everton’s James McFadden and Georgios Samaras of Man City — but their prices keep going up.

The Brum boss added: “The January window is horrendous. Clubs hold guns to your head.”

I know!!
I hope he doesn't throw out anybody I really like, but I like a manager like him. Whats the point having players who don't particulary care or put 110% in all the time. Thankfully we do have so many players who do put in so much. :)

@ Lisa- I have! I met them both! Daniel is so sweet and friendly, and so hot

The djourou song isn't mean, just funny(and hopefully true!)

Ohh right aww well he is a really lovely guy when you meet him or he was lol i have met him a couple of times properly one at Boro and one when I went to Crystal Palace. That was probably the better one cos he scored the only goal and so he was on a buzz from that!

Are you going tommorow? if so we could swap places if you want B)

 Oh yeah, you were a boro fan weren't you?
my mam's dying to meet him, she hates football but loves quedrue

No I'm not tomorrow :( Couldn't get tickets, first time we've played at the emirates so It sold out before I even knew there were tickets on sale <_<

I'd watch out for Seb & Muamba tomorrow, you know how players usually do well against their old team. If only djourou was playing...might get an own goal :ph43r:

aww that's unlucky but yeah cos it's at the Emirates. oh well you'll have when Arsenal go to Birmingham, i dunno when that is but they haven't played them already there have they this season.

yeah but then we'll have a certain Niklas Bendtner
Imagine scoring an own goal against your old club, ok best not say that cos I think that's what Liam Ridgewell did against Villa didn't he..

Birmingham midfielder Sebastian Larsson has set his sights on returning to Arsenal to haunt boss Arsene Wenger and complete a north London double for Alex McLeish's side.

Larsson was with the Gunners before making a permanent move to St Andrews last season after an initial loan spell.

The Swedish international revealed he received supportive text messages from some of the Arsenal players after scoring a last-minute winner against Twattenham last month in McLeish's first match in charge.

Larsson has a lot of respect for Wenger, who recently admitted it had been a difficult decision to offload him and Fabrice Muamba to Blues, but wants to return home with a tangible reward from Saturday's clash at the Emirates Stadium.

He said: "It's obviously very nice to hear Arsene Wenger say complimentary things.

"I had a chat with him when I first went out on loan to Birmingham and he said something similar to me then.

"He told me that I was not exactly there at that moment but he believed that I could be in the future.

"It's nice if he thinks that you've got talent and you can progress and become a good player because he's got a big eye for talent.

"But now I'm here and playing for Birmingham I'll be doing my best to go back to haunt him. Hopefully I can have a happy handshake from him after we've got something from the game.

"I received a few texts from the some of Arsenal lads after our win at White Hart Lane because they were happy that Twattenham lost and happy that I scored.

"That was a great trip to north London, a great start under the new manager, and a repeat of that would be the perfect scenario for me."

Larsson is certainly not daunted by the prospect of facing the league leaders as Blues look to pull off another surprise result.

He said: "The only time I had the chance to play there was in Dennis Bergkamp's testimonial (against Ajax) and then I went on loan to Birmingham.

"It is a brilliant stadium and people say it's difficult going to places like that - and it is - but that's why we want to be in this league.

"You want to play against the leading sides, the Chelseas, Manchester Uniteds and Arsenals - so it will be a great challenge."

Blues midfielder Damien Johnson could play with a protective mask only two weeks after suffering a slight fracture of his skull against Fulham.
