Real Madrid 'plan Arsenal coup' with Wenger and Fabregas top targets

Real Madrid are planning an Arsenal raid as reports today claim the Spanish giants are targeting both manager Arsene Wenger and captain Cesc Fabregas.

Wenger has apparently been offered a £25 million contract to begin this summer, to take over from temporary manager and former Spurs boss Juande Ramos who is contracted until the end of the season.

Real Madrid are also reportedly willing to break the bank to sign Fabregas, who has been the club's inspiration since taking over as captain from William Gallas.

Wenger has always insisted he would never break a contract, and has already resisted Real Madrid's charms three times, according to the Daily Mirror.

While his contract is not due to expire until 2011, Real Madrid's offer could prove tempting as a lack of silverware has led to discontent at the club for the first time in his 12-and-a-half-year reign.

Despite being the most successful manager in Arsenal's history, fans have openly criticised the Frenchman together with shareholders at the club's AGM, which has left their manager feeling upset and dejected.

Although Wenger has seen the club to three league titles and two Doubles, he has failed to secure the Premier League crown since 2004 and has not won any silverware since the FA Cup in 2005.

not going to happen. Wenger just signed a new contract here and if Cesc went to Spain it would be to Barcelona but he always says hes happy here anyways.

Haha. Wenger is not going anywhere. Trust me! Even cesc. He is captain of arsenal..why would he leave?

I love transfer time. Its so interesting. I always hope we buy the people we are linked with.

Hopefully he will buy 2 midfielders and a defender. I heard our budget is 30 milL. I know arshavin costs 20 mill so if we get him. We would have 10 mill left and wenger can easily get 3 players from 10 mill.

It fascinates me thinking how on earth do they come up with these stories, i mean what made them think of Real Madrid? if it had been me i probably would have picked Barcelona or an Italian Team for Wenger.....hmmm interesting!

i don't think wenger would ever go too reaal madrid.

but i think he'll see out his current contract and then stand down as arsenal manager.i think he'll then either be involved in the background or become france national coach i dunno why but i couldn't see him going to another club..because i think he knows he would never get the backing that he has at arsenal.

but i do really pray that he signs a new deal after his current one runs out. anndd if wenger leaves at least half of our players will go.
i just don't even want to think about all that!
he is here now and thats all that matters..we'll deal with this shit if or when it happens.

at the minute we need to get behind the team..and stop worryin about shitty rumours that shitty reporters make up because their twatty people who need a life.

cmon laddss!
IAWT!

I agree ^ they would probably keep him on the board or something.

Someone just told me something that i thought was good to apply here:

'some people are so convincing they could make you believe you stole your own car....'

Arsène Wenger has rubbished speculation linking him with Real Madrid and reiterated that he has a “long-term future” at Arsenal.

Wenger has been in North London for over 12 years and will take charge of his 705th game in charge against Plymouth on Saturday. And, speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, the manager confirmed that he has no intention of moving on just yet.

When asked about reports linking him with the top job at the Bernabeu the Frenchman ruled out any move away from Emirates Stadium and insisted he was happy to work within the “restrictions” in place at his current club.

“I believe I have shown my commitment to this Club,” said Wenger. “I accepted when we built the new stadium to stay to commit my long-term future to the Club under restrictions.

“I don’t think anyone can doubt my commitment here. You can question my decisions and I accept that, but not my commitment.

“No [no one has spoken to my representatives], because I represent myself.”
