 Anne's father edited her diary before he sent it off to be published, but it was written by her.He left out some material. And they still may not have found all the material that he has left out, and so the diaries could still be incomplete. For example, after her father died, five pages were found in which Anne Frank is critical of her parents marriage.

And the thing about it being written in a ball point pen came from the German criminal investigation bureau, and they said that ball point pens weren't available until the 1950's, but they were certainly available in England in the 1930's.Not sure about in Germany. They also said that the whole diary had been written by the same person, and thus it was a fake, as the ball point pen wasn't available at the time that she wrote it. But they were wrong about it being written by one person, as some minor editing was done after the war, most probably by her father.So the diary wasn't a fake, but there was some editing done after.Also, ther was limited use of the ballpoint pen- only for the annotations. Not for her own writing.
