Black Friday!

The day after Thanksgiving, considered to be the first day of the Christmas shopping season, when stores become crowded and Black Friday sales abound (which only contributes to store overcrowding, manic shoppers, and anger all around).

The reason it's called Black Friday is because this is usually the first day of the year that stores begin reporting profits across the board -- that is, they are 'in the black'.

Basically, one of the worst days to try and go shopping, on the road, or even out of your house for a prolonged period of time.

The day after Thanksgiving, huh? No wonder I have never heard of it. I do know what Christmas shopping is though. With a name like Black Friday, it definitely seems ominous.

the countdown to christmas has begun!!

And Chanukkah. Not one of our more important holidays, but nice little time ehe?

Never understood why people go out on Black Friday knowing how mashugana it is. Seems like your setting yourself up for a kappore! Okay I'll stop with the Yiddish now, you Goyims. ;)

Sounds more like an event than a consumer holiday.

I suspect were I American and ever caught up in Black Friday then it would swiftly be followed by Red Saturday when every annoying moron I elbowed the day before realised that they actually had internal bleeding and should probably reassess their priorities in life.

*Sigh* we can wish.

I don't think you quite get it Xander that sort of thing does happen. Usually by two people reaching for the same super hot toy of the year, hell people have been trampled in some places! Like I said a kappore.

Surely the best time to go shopping was when you weren't likely to be brutally murdered over a christmas gift? Maybe its just my British sentiment. Hehe.

I agree wholeheartedly, I prefer to remain without bruises and injuries for my vacation. Even if I would move to America next year I would most certainly avoid participating in the barbaric feuds of the so-called “Christmas season.”

I already bought the presents that I plan to give out back in July, so I have long since beat the crowd. Christmas shopping... Black Friday... It's all the same thing, the annual idiot's spending spree.

the stories do their level best to get the sane people out. Usually by combining massive discounts with highly limited stock. (I.E selling some really expensive piece of equipment of toy at over half off and only having ten or twenty in stock.) Not that it gets me out.

I do not know what it is about that, but that sounds wrong for some reason... Oh well, whatever makes them feel good about themselves.

And welcome one and all to the official start of commercialmas!

Remember kids, Christmas isn't about getting shiny new toys, it's about Santa Cain and the AntiClaus getting a crack at each other once again.

But now at least you have context.
Santa Cain's origins actually rest back on the old Groups site and I can't for the life of me remember it. But I've no doubt someone will pop up to recite the no doubt enthralling tale.

Or perhaps we just decided it'd be funny to put a santa hat on Cain, who can say?

I think it's the idea of forcing him to do something unnatural. Like trying to make Chaos feel apologetic for the terror she inflicts on us, or trying to make Xander into a winner.

Not much of one frankly. I've actually told everyone I know who goes to England to say mean things to him if they ever run into him.

Also, our battles have a long history spanning the eons. So, silence.

Which is funny because this whole 'British' thing is really just a smokescreen; I'm actually from Rhode Island.

Try working retail on Black Friday. Then you may speak of the horrors of consumerism. >_<

Santa Cain and AntiClaus must continue (begin?) their unholy Christmas rites this December!

I would love to see AntiClaus and Santa Cain go at it again for our entertainment. It was about two posts or so for last year's festivities and then everyone was distracted by gobs of shiny things.

Twi, you do know that it would be utterly amazing if you filmed the stampede of Americans bursting through the doors, right?
