So, I was thinking today. There's really no benefit to someone having an absurdly large Digimon, yeah? I mean, you're not maneuverable, your top speed usually isn't applicable in battle, you can be outdodged and its almost a surefire hit. I was thinking of way to correct it. What if we added a 'Size' stat, 1-9 that changed with every Digivolution? This is just a rough idea, but a 'medium' sized creature would have a stat of 5, smaller creatures would have 1-4 and larger ones 6-9. The larger a creature is, the more powerful its attacks are but, by contrast, the more easy it is to get hit. The curent system would be something like... Size: 9. +40n damage where n is the level of digivolution. Size: 1. -40n damage where n is the level of digivolution. I mean, it's not perfect. But attacks from smaller digimon would be increasingly accurate and they themselves would have increasing ability to dodge. Good idea? Bad idea? |

It does seem interesting, Grim, I'll give it that. Still, We need Chaos to vote on this. Her voice is the major voice. |

I'd rather see more discussion from others. Not keen on it myself, though. |

What would be the dodge modifyer for smaller digimon, and what would consitiute as size branches? Anyway, accuracy is determined between digimon. a Large dragon may be innaccurate vs Nettlemon, but against something like Azulongmon, it'll be the other way around... and I think they'd both make size 9 somehow. I think the 'take the case as it comes' thing is better, digimon vary in size, in all three dimensions, too much. Besides, damage penalties could really mess up low stat, small rookies, who'd be dealing a grand total of 0. And why can't a digimon be small, and mighty? I think HP modifyers, if anything, would be better. Larger you are, naturally, the more punishment you can take. |

Well, It seems kind of excessive to me. Because the average 'size' changes upon digivolution stage. Think about it, at rookie you expect your digimon to be small. So small would be the 'average' size for a rookie digimon. Champions are usually Large. And Ultimate are just extremely diverse, so are Megas. But in there defense both levels can handle great power in small bodies quiet well. But hey it's logic in it's basic sense. If you are large you are going to take up space, you kinda asking for it if you think about. Big powerful bad digimon out in the open, if you have a chance you going to mobbed it and kill it or otherwise run. But I dont see how it would effect a digimon's attack power. (Especially if it elemental power which would always be the same no matter your size since it's basically... elemental power, physical on the other hand I could see how it would make sense. Big targets after all are heavily and can add more weight to attacks.) Besides, People have modded digimon sizes before just so they won't get their ass insta-owned by our small militia in battle before. I just think it takes a little more planning when it comes to making your enemy. But in regard to player control digimon. If you make your digimon big then expect to take some hit by proxy, just like i tend to expect big attacks to send my smaller digimon flying all over the field. Shit happens. |

And oddly, we had a dodge modifier before. Had something to do with speed, but it disapeared. |

Personally, I agree that an HP or defense modifier makes more sense than attack if such a system were to be implemented; bigger size = more survivability, smaller size = more evasion, both defensive bonuses. All sizes would have to be relative to the average of their own stage, though, or pretty much every Rookie would be 1-3. We also wouldn't require such a large spectrum; 1-5 would work. I don't think we really need numerically defined Sizes, though, at least not if stat bonuses/penalties are involved; common sense, logic, and dramatic license have carried us just fine so far. Might be useful for purely comparative purposes, though, to help gauge relative sizes between Digimon, especially our made-up ones that lack a common frame of reference (i.e. existing Digimon media). I hope we don't have a lot of indoor fighting planned in the future, because Kikota's digimon just get bigger the higher they go (thus why their Armor forms are small, and his third Digimon is much more reasonably sized - to keep the Overlord from getting totally screwed in tight quarters). Mechamon ASSAULT is pretty much a flying fortress. ^_^ Benefit to having an absurdly large Digimon? Extreme bonuses to Awesomeness. XD |
