Recently I was doing some reading that inspired me on whys to handle the nature of the connection, for lack of a better word, between Elk and Halle. Well that charged my curiosity so, what fuels your imagination for characters, plot-lines and so on?

I'll get up what it was that struck me recently in a bit, really want to finish the next installment Elk's Illusion venture.

That's a question for the ages, ain't it, Chief?

For me it's mainly music; I was completely stuck with Black until A Different World came on...

>goes to check to make sure that's the right song
>realises that Black has been purged as advertised

Craaaap.

What can I say, I'm an ideas factory.
At any point, some part of my brain's churning out randomness! :D

When it comes to music I tended to assciote more with ideas I’ve already had rather then the music generating them, but it can help get me in the mindset for certain mmoments when it come to writing them.

My main inspiration comes from reading, I’ll come across some idea in something I’m reading and decided that’d I’d like to flesh it out or implant it in some manner in what I’m doing.

In this case it was the book: Slayers and Their Vampires. As some of you might know Elk has a fair amount of vampire in him, specifically the original folklore version, and this book is about the evolution of the vampire through the spread of the folklore and into modern culture and those charged with finding and killing them, the modern term obviously being vampire slayer, and the connection between those charged with being vampires and those charged with being the slayers, needless to say it was very inspiring.

If every vampire who claimed to have been at the Crucifixion was actually there, it would have looked like Woodstock...
... bit a flowerchild at Woodstock, spent three days in a cave watching me bloody hand twitch..

My main inspiration? Math class.

Mm-hmm. Math class. I would sit in my corner, eyes glazed over as the teacher went on about whatever we were discussing, alternating between drawing pictures on my binder, doing my homework ahead of time, and writing notes all over my homework.

That graduated to writing notes all over my college work while I was in the Gen Ed classes and the classes that I couldn't otherwise stay awake in.

Also long car rides, gazing out into the highway, letting the imagination go. Thank god I knew when to travel when there were fewer people on the road, because I would zone out for a good solid hour until I needed to turn down an exit.

The basis for all of that? Video games. Books. Essays I had to write. Psych class. Tarot cards. Mythology. Wiki walks on TV Tropes. Maybe a song here or there, trying to think of a scene that it would work well with.

I did that once. Then I realized I don't want to commit suicide. Not a fan of anything Whedon (*coughhackcough*) has done the man seems to hate good dialogue,

I tried, all it did is prove he's getting worse.

I'm... going to pretend I didn't hear any of that, for the sake of avoiding an argument. *massive Whedon fan*

But if you really want someone who hates dialogue, goddamn Inoue, the guy who writes for most Heisei Riders.
Just... damn.

Not a big Whedon fan? I could grant you a lot of things, but dialog's the one I really don't understand. Regardless of whether his characters are good or not, I think Whedon always does a fantastic job of characterizing them through their speech.

Not the point, I guess.

Similar to Chaos, really. Once I began trying to establish my characters, I spent a lot of free time thinking about them. DCD has kind of fallen into the backburner of my personal projects, but it's a great deal of fun to do because it's a bit less worrisome than other stuff. I just sort of have at.

I don't really know where I draw my inspiration from. Some of it is very much centered on what I'm watching/reading/playing at the time, but the rest is harder to pin down. Mostly I just think about it until a good idea comes to me (or at least, an idea that seems good).

Ahh, that never works for me.
Either I have a flash of inspiration or nothing happens. XD
