Kelgari and I decided we needed to practice Junction so we could be well prepared for Thursday's match against either Sorry Ass Clan or Just Die (depending on who wins). I found a team on IRC, but they were more interested in playing Dustbowl, so we agreed to play both. We started out on Junction, on defense. Our strategy was to have me sticky A while the rest of the team defended B. They ended up rushing B first both times, beating us out and then quickly capping A while we respawned. Before we could blink, they were onto capping C twice. They were pretty coordinated, and had a really good Sniper and Soldier. The same thing happened the next round. We then changed maps to Dustbowl, where they promptly whipped us again. We started out on offense, and were unable to capture 1:2. Apparently they didn't like the first stage so much and asked us to switch to defense next round so they could advance to the next stages. We only managed to hold off all 3 points for 5 minutes, and then in that timeframe captured the first 3 points (a minor improvement over the past round). Our offense actually felt pretty solid that round, in the first stage we all gathered together in the left tunnel, built uber, and waited for Erzhik to pick off a couple of opponents with his Sniper rifle. When he took out two, we rushed in. Their Heavy/Medic uber combo was tough to beat, but our numerical advantage allowed us to move onto the next stage. But by that time the timer was almost out and we had no chance of winning. It was pretty much the same story the next round, but we held them off on defense for 7 minutes. So overall, Team Funky was a much better team. But I was pleased to see that we were all coordinating well and moving as a group. TC: 0 Team Funky (no clan tag): 1 |
