Thoughts on the Update

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about the update.

I'll briefly go over my thoughts:

Heavy Weapons
While not as exciting as the last two set of weapons, I'm happy to see that these are well balanced unlike the old Backburner and the Blutsauger. Natascha is hard to judge because it is terrible in Heavy vs. Heavy fights, and that's all there is right now. But when things cool off, it should be a fine weapon. The Sandvich is a wonderful alternative to the Shotgun, and both feel very well balanced to me. I haven't unlocked it yet, but the KGB looks good in terms of balance.

Badwater Basin
I should probably play a bit more of this before jumping to any conclusions, but it's very fun so far. I like the open spaces, flanking routes, vertical spaces, etc. and that it is only one stage. Gold Rush is great, but it's just too similar to Dustbowl for my taste.

Arena Mode/Maps
So far, I'm loving this gamemode. It's a change of pace, and is simple and straightforward. It seems perfect for competition. Good job on this Valve! The maps are interesting...Lumberyard and Ravine stand out as the best, with lots of cover and buildings to jump on. The new environment in Lumberyard is stellar and I'm looking forward to seeing it elsewhere. Well and Granary, I don't care for as much because they are so small and lack cover. Badlands however, has large open spaces and more cover, which makes it slightly better.

My true and honest opinion (things you won't read in a magazine):

Heavy weapons: LAME except for sandvich. Natasha sounds nice, but its not as hot as Sasha.

Badwater:
Ok, as you know I FUCKING HATE GOLDRUSH! IT CAN SUCK MY SHAVED BALLS! But badwater, is actually not that bad. Problem is it's too easy to cap. Even though there are tons of spaces to ambush from, they generally don't work. Good thing is that it doesn't last forever like GR.

New mode/maps:
As a game mode, LAME. But that new color and effect they added seems pretty damn sexy. Whole desert thing is bullshit now, so fucking lame. Not a single camel, WHAT KIND OF DESERT DOESN'T HAVE CAMELS? LIKE SERIOUSLY, WTF?

Update as a whole:
LAME. SO MANY FUCKING BUGS, ITS UNBELIEVABLE. IT CRASHED MY GAME AND THEN IT COULDN'T LOAD IT ANYMORE. I HAD TO SEARCH FORUMS AND APPARENTLY A LOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM AFTER UPDATE. Had to delete some shit file.

Weapons:
Sandvich: Has saved my life already, useful when there are few medics or on Arena
Natascha: Useful vs Scouts and Pyros, and for holding down the flag.
KGB: Haven't unlocked, looks to be a straight upgrade from the fists (a'la Blutsauger, Ubersaw, & Axtinguisher).

Badwater: Haven't played it yet, unfortunately.

Arena: Fun map type, somewhat frustrating at times due to the random switchouts.

New visual theme: A nice change of pace from the desert. And erzhik, lots of deserts don't have camels. Oh, and l2notgettauntkilled :p
