Genesis Bible Study
1. What does this mean to you? It makes me feel a bit better about myself, knowing that God created me in His own image, and God is perfect and does not make mistakes.
2. Does it matter? Are you happy you exist? Why, or why not? I think that it does matter for me to know this. I am happy I exist, because I believe God has a specific plan for me. I may not know why, but He created me for a reason.
3. Why do you think God created man? I think that God created man to be in fellowship with Him and to take care of the rest of creation.
4. Do you think God cares about you? Does God love you? I know that God cares about me and loves me, since He made me. He also has saved me, so that is how I know.
5. Why do you think Adam and Eve weren't ashamed even though they were naked? I think that they knew that God had created them in his image, and did not have any imperfections. Nowadays, people view themselves differently, because of sin.
6. What do you think it was like for them living in the Garden of Eden? What kind of relationship did they have with God? I think that living in the Garden of Eden was paradise for them. They had each other, they had God, and their bonds to each other and to God were unshaken. Nothing could seperate them from God.
7. Is there anything that you want so badly that you would do anything to get to get it..even something wrong?
Last year, I would do anything to make friends and fit in. I even engaged in vulgar joking. I had thought it was all fun and games, but it was all wrong. I got closer to God and asked Him to forgive me. I sure learned my lesson.
8. What do you think it means that Noah "walked with God"? I think that "walking with God" means that you have a relationship with God. The relationship that Noah had with God was not as perfect as Adam and Eve's before the Fall, but it was a good relationship nonetheless.
9. What are some things that cause violence? Disagreements, greed, bullying, and sin in general.
10. What is the first thing Noah did after coming out of the Ark onto dry land? Noah built an altar and sacrificied some animals on it.
11. Why is this important? Building an altar and sacrificing an animal was like praising God. Because of the New Covenant with Jesus, we do not have to sacrifice animals to praise God. Noah's altar meant that he was thankful to God for saving him and his family.
12. What agreement did God make with man and every living creature on earth? What is the sign of this agreement? God agreed never again to destroy the earth with a flood. The sign of this agreement is a rainbow.
13. If God said this to you, would you have the faith to obey? Or would you stay where you are? It would be difficult, but with faith in God I could do it, but only with God's help.
14. What do you think it means when it says "all the peoples of the earth will be blessed through you?" Jesus was Abram's descendant. Through Jesus, all of the nations were blessed with a Savior.
15. What happened to Abram's faith? Abram's faith was shaken by his and Sarai's desire to have a child. Instead of waiting on the Lord's timing, he took matters into his own hands.
16. What is the significance of this story? Does it seem fair to you? This story is significant because it showed how much Abraham vauled his relationship with God, and how much faith he had in God. I think it is fair that God asked Abraham to be fully devoted to Him.
17. Look at verse 5. What do you think this means? Abraham and Isaac went to pray to the Lord to intervene. So Abraham had put his son's fate in God's hand.
18. Who are the three "patriarchs" we have read about so far who are the ancestors of Jesus? Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
19.Do you think Joseph did anything foolish? I don't think he should have told his brothers about his drean. His brothers got the idea that Joseph was implying he was better than them. So his brothers were even more jealous and hateful of him.
20. Why did Joseph's brothers sell him into slavery? Joseph's brothers let their jealousy get out of control to the point they didn't want him around any more. So they sold him.
21. Why did Potiphar put Joseph in charge of everything he owned? Potiphar saw that God brought him success, and Joseph caught his attention because of this. He liked him.
22. According to the culture of Egypt in this time, Potiphar would have been within his rights to demand that Joseph be executed for what he had done. But instead he had him imprisoned. Why do you think this might have been? Potiphar probably couldn't completely believe that Joseph would do this, but he wanted his wife's love and respect, so he threw him in jail.
23. What happened to Joseph as a result of him being a man of character? Joseph became second in command over all of Egypt.
24. How do you think Joseph felt seeing his brothers after so many years? Do you think he was angry with them? No I don't think he was angry with them. If he were angry, he would have killed them on the spot if he wanted. Instead he tested them and treated them well.

Good work, Maria!

I will make one comment about question 22. I think that Potiphar refused to have Joseph executed because he knew what his wife had done. He had him imprisoned to keep from appearing as a fool to the other people.

Thanks. Now that you put it that way, I agree with you, Master. Potiphar would be made fun of if he took the side of a slave rather than his wife.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Life has been busy.
Assignment 1- in Shaolin Kungfu
Day 1: I moved my feet out 2 inches or so, and I held the stance for 6 1/2 minutes. To help me, I used the "Making the Force flow" technique and "Feeling the Force". I also tried to project some Qi down my legs. I will experiment some more tomorrow.
Day 2: I held the stance for 6 minutes while projecting Qi down my legs and into the ground. I'm going to try to hold the stance longer next time. I will try to improve my stance.
Day 4: Today I widened and greatly deepened my stance. My thighs were pretty close to being parallel to the ground. I projected Qi down my legs and into the ground. My stance was approximately 3 or 4 feet wide. I held the stance for 10 minutes. I practiced some Qi exercises and karate moves, but my legs were immobile.

Thanks. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Here is my Exodus Bible Study.
1. Do you trust God to take care of you? Why, or why not? I do trust God to take care of me. He has awesome power that I will never understand. He also sent Jesus to die for my sins. I know that I can trust God.
2. What was Moses trying to do in verse 12? Moses was trying to hide his sin by burying the Egyptian's body.
3. But what happened the next day? Why do you think this happened? A Hebrew found out. I think this happened because you can't hide shady stuff for long, especially not when others are watching.
4. How would you respond if you heard someone calling your name from a burning bush? I would most likely scream and start running in the other direction.
5. Why do you think Moses was afraid to look at God? Moses was ashamed of the sin committed years before. We may be able to hide things from others, but not from God. The guilt will always be there.
6. What kind of excuses does Moses make about why he shouldn't be the one to free the Israelites? Moses said that he was not a good speaker.
7/ What is God's repsonse? God said that He was the one who created Moses, and enabled him to speak. He would surely give him the words to say.
8. Have you ever made excuses to God or to others about why you can't do something? Are the accurate, or are you just afraid or unwilling to do something? I have made excuses, always, not to do something. It is always because I am afraid or unwilling or lazy.
9. What were the ten plagues? The plague of blood, the plague of frogs, the plague of gnats, the plague of flies, the plague on livestock, the plague of boils, the plague of hail, the plague of locusts, the plague of darkness, and the plague on the firstborn.
10. What did the Israelites do to keep their first born sons from dying? They were to kill a perfect lamb and paint the blood on the doorframe of the house.
11. What are you the most thankful for? I am thankful for Jesus, my family, my friends, and all the other opportunities and blessings I have been given, which are too numerous to count.
12. When Jesus came he died for all people. Do you think this means that we all belong to him> Why or why not? Those who accept Jesus as their Savior belong to Him. This is because anyone who believes that Jesus is the the Christ is part of the family of God. This means that believers are God's chosen people.
13. Look at verses 15-18. Discuss what you thing God is doing here. od is showing Moses and the Israelites that He is more powerful than even Pharoah and his army.
14. Think about what God has done for you. How will you celebrate? I will pray to God and thank Him. I will worship Him in song as well.
15. What should you do the next time you are tempted to complain? I should meditate on all the past blessings God has given me, to help me think optimistically.
16. The people were given manna to eat. What do you think it was like? How would you like to have to eat the same thing at every meal for 40 years? I think that manna was sort of like a sweet wafer( since the Bible says it was like wafers mixed with honey). I think that I won't get tired of it, but I'd have to remember to be thankful I have food.
17. What are "The Ten Commandments"? You shall have no other gods. Do not have any idols. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Honor you father and mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet.
18. How do you keep the Sabbath? I attend church to learn about God and I rest on that day.
19. God wants first place in your life and won't share that space with anyone or anything. What in your life is more important than God?
Nothing is more important to me than God. Sometimes I have let things like money or video games get in the way, but God should be first in my life. I strive to put Him first.
20. Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior and asked to be filled with God's presence? I have accepted Jesus as my Savior and I have asked to be filled with God's presence.
