Knight’s Lesson 9 Pick any character from Star Wars and write a detailed report comparing them to someone from the Bible. Post it in your introduction topic Hhhmmmmm I know I want to use Qui-Gon Jinn. Ok I think I can compare Qui-Gon to Peter in the Bible. Both men are tall, strong & rugged. Both in their own way follow the light. Peter follows the light of Jesus & Qui-Gon follows the light of the Force. Peter is a fisherman who become a follower of Jesus in the end he become the head of the Church. Qui-Gon is in service to to others & is a Jedi Master, who trains a Padawan to become a successful Jedi Knight. Peter follows the will of God by listening to Jesus & following the Path that Jesus guides him on. Qui-Gon follows the will of the Force being guided by the living force that guides him to do what he does. Peter does have a temper, stubborn streak, can speak his mind & accept the fact that he can be put down when he is wrong. Qui-Gon will do things his way when he thinks the Jedi Council might not know exactly what to do & says “I will do what I must”. Qui-Gon is a good Jedi Knight who does follow his instincts. When the Council does not allow him to take Anakin as his Padawan, Qui-Gon does accept that. Peter serves others everyday of his life as a Christian & accepts the sufferings that come along with being a Christian. Qui-Gon does his best to serve others on every mission he is sent on & accepts all the things that Jedi had to go through to get a mission done. Peter was a leader of those who he had to guide after Jesus ascended into Heaven. Qui-Gon could lead his Padawan & others to safety when the need was asked for. Peter died for his faith & love of God. Qui-Gon died as a Jedi Knight in service to others to protect them from evil. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Knight’s Lesson 10 Compare Star Wars to another movie. Lord of the Rings (I haven’t seen this movie for awhile so I may not remember all the names of the characters) Let’s see there is Frodo & his companions. Luke, Han, Chewbacca & Leia. Frodo & his group were on a quest to destroy an evil ring. Luke & his group were out to destroy the death star. Elves—because the elves were good, light & helpful. Jedi were guided by the light of the force to do service for others. The evil soldiers in Lord of the Rings were for the darkness out to destroy the light of the world. The stormtroopers were agents for Darth Vader out to destroy the Jedi & anyone who got in the way of Palapatine or the Vader. The story takes place with little people, the Hobbits, who, even though they are very short could be compared to humans of every size, shape & disposition. Star Wars takes place in a galaxy far far away with many people much the same as we humans are here with our various problems & positives that we have. Lord of the Rings is a story of good versus evil. It goes through all of Frodo’s trials & problems at attempting to get the problem solved of destroying a ring that is in it’s essence a force for evil. Star Wars is a story that can be considered also a story of good versus evil. It could be considered the glory, downfall & rise of the Jedi Or it could be considered the the story of Darth Vader how he went from good to evil & then was saved. Lord of the Rings is a story of intrigue & obstacles that both the heroes & villains go through to succeed in either their evil plots or good choices. The good never have it easy in Lord of the Rings. The good have to struggle all the way to the end. In Star Wars same thing happens. The good always have to struggle to defeat the evil. The good never have it easy either. All in all the stories have similarities but are quite different in how they are presenting good & evil. Lord of the Rings takes place in sort of a medieval fantasy kingdom. Star Wars takes place in out space on another planet. |

You did a great job Knight Jan-Qui! I would just add that for me, both Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings are stories of compassion, and how it can redeem and save (Frodo's compassion for Smeagol and Luke's compassion for his father) Master Silmerion |

:) bows & thank you Master. ooops I forgot about that but you are so right on both counts. I haven't watched Lord of the Rings for awhile & at this time of year I usually don't watch those kind of movies---we're heading into the Holiday Season---I can say that because it covers 3 Holidays. |

Explorers Lessons: I'm sort of thinking it might be time for me to go into my next path----I've been very undecided about this for awhile but Explorer still sticks with me pretty strong. I re-read this area: It does fit me even though there are some areas I'm still a bit bewildered about. Jedi Explorers feel the need to discover truths, visit the places where great things have happened, and be involved in archeological or astronomical fields. They have strong combat abilities, but their scholarly side makes them a valuable resource. Jedi Explorers thrive in the wild lands among other species. They are toughened by experience, and they seek knowledge in practice as opposed to merely studying. They establish a solid reputation not only for their discoveries but also for their ability to handle themselves in tight places. If Indiana Jones were a Jedi he would be a Jedi Explorer. I'm not Indiana Jones but I do have much experience in many areas, such as traveling around both the USA & beginning to learn to travel the world. I've spent a good part of my life teaching younglings---I can't seem to get away from that even when I do my best to avoid it. ;) . I've traveled by car, plane, boat, motorcycle, bicycle, bus, train & even did a touch of hang gliding on water---very short but it was fun. Still want to do a wave runner if I ever get the chance to do so. So far as discoveries go I have been discovering people & how interesting they can really be in my life. I have traveled at one time or another most of my life while still just living in one town all my life. I've been in most of the western parts of the USA, the south. I just haven't hit the east of the USA yet. I've been to Canada & Alaska. Do I like discovering things? yes. Our world is such an amazing place from the mountains to the deserts to the oceans(I've been in both the Pacific & Atlantic). I'm getting up in age but I feel there is still much I have to do to get around this world. As a Jedi I hope to travel even more. 1. Are you interested in learning the hows and whys of things in a hands-on way? When it comes to how are things made or how do things tick---yes that fits me a whole lot. I have taken things apart & sometimes have not been able to get them back together  but I do like the challenge all the same. I'd love to be able to build a computer---still haven't done that yet. I've got an life size R2 that is in the wings to be put together---that is going to start real soon. 2.How would you deal with a situation that wasn't going as you had planned? This happens all the time with traveling or even at home. I look at the situation & deal with it as is needed whether by contacting those I need to connect with, changing plans, doing an about face on a trip, which has also happened to me. Ask those in charge when I get somewhere to get myself situated. Make constant adjustments to the what is going on around me. It might take me a minute to figure out or it might take me longer depending on what the problem was. This happened on my most recent mission. As we say in the costume world or even Jedi world we "wing" it. Take it as it comes & look at the options available & work with what you have to work with. In the end it all usually works itself out along with trusting in the Lord of the force to guide me all along the way. 3. How would you feel about being called away from a hands-on project to do research or crunch numbers for some other aspect of it? My 1st natural reaction is to cringe & be upset--because that does happen to me, even at home. When I realize this is happening I take a deep breath, count to 10 say the Jedi Code & let go of the feelings & then go & do what is asked of me to do & do the best I can at doing what is asked of me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assignment #2 Write an essay about being a Explorer. What does it mean for you? How will you be a Explorer in your daily life? hhhhmmmmm being an Explorer. What does it mean to me?----Learning new things, traveling, meeting new people, seeing new places learning something I didn't know before. All I can say is that in daily life I feel like I am an explorer because everyday for me is a new challenge. I do not have a "normal routine". Each day is a new experience that I have no idea from 1 minute to the next what will happen. I mean I know I get up, eat breakfast & then after that you could say I toss the "cards" into the air & where they land I deal with them. On rare occasions I can set a schedule of what is going to happen that day but most of the time I have to go with the "flow" as to what is going to happen next. I do live in the living force because I live in the now most of the time. I do plan things & I just hope when the plans are made they follow through, when they don't then I either "wing" it or see what is going to happen next. I'm in constant change of choice of what has to be done. That is both due to how I live & because I have my mother & aunt living with me. I have caregivers that take care of my mother. One never quite knows when one wakes up how the day will move forward. I've had days when I had it planned out & things got completely turned around---that for me is normal. |

bows :) Thank you Master. Assignment #3: List 3 essential qualities a Jedi Explorer should have. It asked for 3 & have 5 since I think these are all essential for travel. I did look at the Explorers page & from what I read it seems that these qualities are necessary Curiosity, knowledge, diplomatic, being prepared, body language, transport Do you think you have them? Curiosity -- yes Knowledge--still gaining that & always ready to learn Diplomatic-- on going learning skill Being prepared--do my best at that Body language---what people see when they meet you Do you have any problem with them? No---just need time to learn what I need to know How do you plan to obtain them or to conserve them? Keep on practicing them daily. Assignment 4: Have you ever done any Jedi Explorer mission, online and offline? Please relate them. Where do I begin? I've done more then I can count. I will list the off line missions I have done: When one is a costumer one does a lot of traveling. This is to & from these places. I've been to: Atlanta, Georgia--drove, flew, Jedi transport, hotel & tickets Los Angeles, California--flew & same above Orlando, Florida--same Knoxville, Tennessee--flew 1 yr & drove other times plus the above Chattanooga, Tennessee--drove plus the above Indianapolis, Indiana--drove plus the above Columbus, Ohio---flew plus the above London, England---most unique---1st time over seas--had to make sure I had my passport---that was quite fun Naperville, Illinois--drove---no hotel, Jedi transport or tickets needed for this one. & a few others that I can't quite remember where they were. What did I have to do on these missions. Meet people, assist & escort where & when necessary, be on time to mission events promptly & get myself to these places either by Jedi transport, walking, car or plane. I live in Illinois so I don't have to take a boat ;) . I've had to be very prepared in all missions to make sure I had everything I needed to get the mission done succsesfully, which so far I've been very fortunate that has happened. On line Missions---I'm not exactly sure what is meant by that but when I've given something on line to do I do my best to get the information to whoever needs it by way of using computer or telephone to get the job done. I've called England, & all the States that I have visited to when in need to get missions set up. I've done everything on line that I can to make sure everything runs as smooth as it can by getting tickets to the events, airlines or hotels for whatever or wherever I have to go. I've called hotels, airlines, & shuttle serveses when necessary to check to make sure all things are in place. Make sure I have the proper amount of currency with me, depending on where I'm going. I had to learn to change currency in England for the 1st time. To do any mission of any sort takes much planning. My future missions include: More then 1 trip to Orlando for different things at different times & different places. I have just come off the mission from Tennessee. |
