I just found your group but I have had Dick Staub's book for the past four years and this has been an area of intense interest for me. I am currently pastoring a church in the inston salem, nc area and have been for the past five years and before I felt the call of the Lord to become a pastor, I spent alot of time in the rpg/scifi world. I am interested in growing the the path of the jedi and was wanting to know what I needed to do to start. I have never used a chat room before but I have read through the web site. Thank you

In answer to the first question in the youngling group, I think that to be a jedi is a fulfilment of Christ's command to give up one's life for something greater. Jesus says those who keep their life will lose it and those who give up their life for his sake will keep it forever. Anikin Skywalker lost his life to the dark side through his selfish desire for Almadalia and became Darth Vader, but gain his life again when he laid down his life for Luke. Laying down our lives for Christ is a complete surrender of all that we are and an infilling of the Holy Spirit to renew and transform us into all God wants us to be.

The Force is the power of God dwelling in the world. I understand the arguments made on the website for the force and using ki and parna as examples but I feel it is something deeper. From reading the Philokalia and the ante-nicene fathers I feel that the force is God's power flowing through people into the world. Through meditation and contemplation people can gain control over th electromagnetic forces on this earth, but through the practice of the prescence of God, through the Jesus Prayer, through meditating on the scriptures God's Word open's the beleiver up to new worlds of the force that don't exist for pagans and unbeleivers, a true understanding of the things of creation. Moses asked to see God and God passed his backside before Moses and Moses' face was changed in such a way that the Israelites could not even look on Moses' face and it had to be veiled. This power shows up through miracles, healings, visions, and many other things that unbelievers cannot accomplish unless they are in league with the devil and his fallen angels.

I hope I answered that well.
