Evening all, As my name says my name is Joseph, however for internet communication I latinize it into Iosephus. This doesn't mean you can't call me Joe in responding to my posts or in personal messages but I keep the names under which register fairly formal. I am a Catholic Christian and have been studying religion and theology for quite a few years now and so when I heard about this organization I had to stop by and see what it was about. After reading through some of your documents on the website and on these Message Boards I decided to affiliate with you so that I might discover some new things about my own beliefs and about the thoughts and ideas of others regarding the faith. I'll assume this first post means I can begin training here and so I thank you for that opportunity. I pray that I use can use these studies to improve myself and that my time here will also be a benefit to this order. |

I know this follows quickly upon my first post but since I have a great desire to begin my training I've given my responses to the first youngling assignment. Feel free to comment on them. 1) When Jesus first called the disciples, who were later to be named apostles, he did so with a very direct and forward statement, “Follow me.” We learn from this statement that the whole of our lives are to be lived in imitation of him and are in some way a response to the gifts which he has generously bestowed on us and continues to bestow on us. However, Jesus never tells us what following him means in a specific sense. We know that it entails keeping the commandments, living a life of simplicity, with special attention given to the poor and the downtrodden. It is a life of service and giving but above all it is a life lived in love. This is the life we are trying to live but as fallen creatures we need something more concrete and definitive. A road map or plan which will direct our actions to the keeping of the new law of love and will help us to remain focused on Jesus during all the moments of our life. And so religious organizations have since the days of the early church developed programs of formation which provided a guidebook on how to live the Christian message in a specific way and at a specific time and place. And then we come to the present day. We live in a world which is daily increasing in complexity and pace and so more than ever we need a guide, a plan to follow that will help us to understand how Jesus is asking us to follow him, to live his life in the midst of our personal situations. There are many different plans out there, programs that will guide us and this is what we are engaged with at the present moment. The life of a Jedi, with its rules. Creeds, codes and resources are a guide. The way of a Jedi is a guide to understand the call which we have all received and it is a guide to discern and hear the voice Jesus calling to us personally asking us to follow him. As in any program there will be difficulties and trials. There will be high and low points but if one takes the training to heart they will find, or should find that they are living out the law given by Christ. A law which opens us up to his love and responds generously to that love through service to our fellow man. 2) We are told from the Star Wars films that the force surrounds and permeates all things. It is not the source of life but is integral to its maintenance and that when life as we know it ceases all things will return to it. Thus I would posit that in some way the force is God himself, all three persons who are the source and the sustenance of life. This force was revealed through Jesus when he came among us a man and is continuously sustained in us and further developed in us by the presence of the Holy Spirit. The force appears in some way to be one of the attributes of God, which by their definition are one with God himself. In this world we have all had experiences of God’s love, his mercy his goodness and his power. This force which we feel would fit into this same category. It is a way we speak about God and how he continuously reminds us of his presence in our lives. It is one with him and so it sustains us and when we die we will return to the force as we shall see him as he truly is. We can do specific things with it, or rather the force/ God works through us to accomplish specific things in this world according to his plan. We all participate in God (we are created in his image) and so we all have a natural connection to him, some are simply more attuned to his presence in their lives and thus are able to respond to him more fully thus allowing his power to manifest itself to greater degrees through them. And so without going too far off topic I will leave it at that. The force is the name we give to the gifts of God working in us and through us to accomplish things in the world. It is our experience of God in our lives and our openness to it is our response to him. |

yeah, this is a little awkward. Though I remain fully interested in the organization the same can not be said of the administration/ superiors at the school in which I am a student as they feel it would draw too much time away from my canonical approved course of studies. As such I have been asked to remove myself from the membership rolls and to disaffiliate with the organization. Thanks though for the opportunity, it's been good while it lasted. |

Yes. We never remove anyone from our rolls (unless they are very rude to us) so you will always be welcome. |
