Hello all, I am Sam)(ael. At least a few of you should already know me. It has recently occured to me that being as deeply christian as I am I should have at least participated here for the past year or so. We share a lot of beliefs, and I still have a lot to learn. I will be leaving on a Mission to australia for two years may 6th so my time is not too long, but I am interested in being active and helpful for that full space of time. If there is anything I can get started on training and helping let me know. |

Assignment 1
1. The Jedi way can be broken into many smaller sections and truths but to be simple and direct: Being a Jedi is about valueing others at least as much as yourself, practicing the ways of the force, and truely believing and acting on the divine good in all things. 2. The force is the bioenergy of our body, synonymous with the spirit, chi, or chakras. It is generated by life, thought, emotion, and the state of enlightenment where all of these are in healthy harmony. The force does not know time. I believe that beginnings and ends are just our mind unable to grasp at eternity. The force is as eternal as everything else. The force is like an ally. One must develop familiarity and a deep relationship to reap the most benefits. Once this is done and practice has been faithfully exerted the force will be directed by our thoughts allowing us to will it and release to it at once. |

Assignment 3
I hope it is acceptable that I pray differently than the Jesus Prayer. I don't believe a repeated prayer holds much value when you are talking to God. He wants to know what you are actually feeling, what you need, and I am sure he loves gratitude and it is humble and wise to offer sincere praise from actual events instead of by rote. For myself at least this is how I conduct prayer. I meditate for about an hour daily in addition to prayer and scripture study on a daily basis. |

Assignment 8
I was wondering, Can I memorize something instead of the lord's prayer? Once again recitation of an old prayer is not how things are done. May I instead substitute 13 articles of Faith from my religion? (I will add the Bible scriptures when I have completed them.) 1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. 2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression. 3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. 4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. 6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. 7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. 8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. 9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. 10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. 11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. 12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. 13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. |

Unfortunately, a lot of this is contrary to what a majority fo Christian churches believe. |

Indeed, it is, but I think that as Jedi, we should respect everyone's beliefs. I would only add something, based on my personal experience. I am currently learning the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic and I use it much as a Mantra, it is a repitition, but these words create also a huge energy, which united to the energy of my intention can express my feelings much better than any phrase or word I could think of. Of course, this is only my own experience, I also believe a lot in silent prayer and spontaneous prayer. I think each of us should find his own way to dialogue with God. Master Silmerion |

Well you will find that all of the differences where still things Jesus had during his personal formation of the church. We believe that the organization did not change. "God's path is one eternal round." I do agree with it's use as a mantra (though for myself I really don't have a personality that works well with Mantras) |

I think each of us is different. God gave each of us a small light which becomes huge if united with the others, this is why it is so interesting to be able to work with Christian Jedi from many denominations. Master Silmerion |

Padawan Assignment 1
For one thing we are not as united in several ways. There is no 'one Jedi Order', not 'One council', and no republic to defend uniformly. This offers advantages and problems but they are not too hard to handle. Today's Jedi also do not wear a specific uniform for the most part or have the fantastic levels of power portrayed in the movies. We also do not have 10,000 Years of history to look back on for our Jedi culture. These however are differences I do not entirely mind.
Life is all about suffering. I have been far down that road despite my relative youth. People are destined to hurt no matter how powerful you are, and nothing, nothing is certain save what God promises us. Being a Jedi is about healing that Affliction. When a friend is hurting or unsure I can provide cool healing hands to the burning pain and relieve it physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Not only do I take time to observe and find things I can do for other people but even in passing I try to lighten other people's days. I smile or tell a Joke at the MVD. I hold a door open for another person or give my spot away in line. I teach my brothers and sisters and I pay attention to them. A few little things are your biggest accomplishments in the day when you look back. I come home from a day at work having given 115% of myself and with great successes and that kind word I gave one of my employees was the thing I feel best about. And then its a good day.
I am not going to lie. I enjoy what I do here a lot more than some of the other things that I participate in. But it is a lifestyle. If you mean hobby in the way that some people go fishing litterally with every chance they can get, or think about and talk about fishing with every heart-beat and breath, then its a hobby. |

Padawan Assignment 2'
I actually need most help on Self Control. I intend to focus more on the things I need to get done most. I can be much more productive with my days and some of the projects I prefer are less needful than others. The trick I have been noticing to getting self control is to learn to love the hard tasks. I have begun tackling some pretty big problems in my life, assignments I need to do for work that resemble fighting a cracken in the dark. I am starting to love the challenge. The level of learning I get when I am in over my head is surprisingly exhilarating. I am going to spend more time 'in over my head'. |
