Self-Control may be difficult to deal with but you seem to know yourself well and this is a good thing to work towards it.

Go to the "Martial Arts" page and practice all of the stances, hand forms, leg techniques, and blocks that are described there. Post your progress in your Introduction topic.

I have done several qui-gong and Tai Chi exercises regularly since I first recieved them from Master Kai Stormwalker probably close to two years ago. Using these principles I have also applied the force to massage. Its a little bit of a new thing in the force community though you see it being applied in many theraputic massage teachings.
I wanted to carve out a nich of my own.

I have also done extensive force work over the years. I have re-done what is suggested here and it was helpful. With the force you can always go back to the basics. In fact, I would do it regularly and in a 4-1 ratio with advanced force practices.

Yes, going back to the basics is always good. I usually include the basics in all my practice sessions. I practice Force massage as well and so does Ben.

Good job!

Read the topic "Leadership" in the Lecture Hall, in the Service forum, and write about why leadership skills are important to a Jedi

Post your response in your Introduction topic.

That was an excellent Lecture by the way Master Kai, shows a lot of study, observation, and reflection.

My Father is a qualified psychologist who became a personal coach. He motivates people and coaches them to become leaders and become successful. Have you ever met a person who knows the librarians at a university library by name? My dad. Anyway, this is a section I have been around since before the beginning I guess.

Leadership is a vital skill to a Jedi. It represents out ability to work well with and motivate others. Our ability to arouse the desire to act. Our ability to lead. Leadership is different than controlling others. When used benevolently it allows all individuals to succeed under one banner instead of dutifully filling dull responsabilities.
This is the difference between synergy and dictatorship. For a Jedi, the artful practices of diplomacy and leadership are invaluable to his or her course. Jedi often mend the hurts others unknowingly do. Jedi provide a strong face for good, and in a world where many only need a strong leader to help them choose the right course a Jedi can be worth a thousand men...
Due to wisely applied leadership skills.

Good answer, Sam)(ael.

Unfortunately, I didn't write the lecture and it didn't have a name on it. It may have come from The Jedi Way section at Totse.com, but it no longer comes up when I try to find it.

I rarely put my name on anything I write unless it is something that I know is just my opinion. As a Christian I believe that anything good I do comes from God alone, so he alone deserves the credit.

Knowing that you had some past LDS roots, you might appreciate something I read several times yesterday.

(This is in Joseph Smith History Verse 46, right after the angel moroni has appeared to Joseph smith in his room and delivered his message for the third time. What he adds at the end is very interesting.)

"[he] added a caution to me, telling me that Satan would try to tempt me, to get the plates for the purpose of getting rich. This he forbade me, saying that I must have no other object in view in getting the plates but to glorify God, and must not be influenced by any other motive than that of building his kingdom; otherwise I could not get them."

All glory belongs to our Father in Heaven, and like Jesus said in luke 9:23-24
"And he said unto them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: But whoesoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it."

Its not like we get cheated out of our efforts. We are offered immortality if we can be humble enough to give glory where it is due. And that all belongs to God.

Read "Specialized Skills of a Jedi" in the Lecture Hall, in the Service forum, and write about why these skills are important and how you might be able to perform them in your own life.

Post your response in your Introduction topic.

These are similar to the 6 roles a Jedi has in RJK. (The 6th is 'problem solvers')

Guardians
Jedi guard others from danger. What dangers? Accidents, themselves, and all kinds of other mishaps. One of the defining points that a Christian Jedi does not miss in their role is our stewardship over others. In addition to our responsabilities toward protecting life, we guard our fellow men from the advances of temptation and their own weaknesses and pitfalls.
We could not be loving Disciples of Christ if we (John 13: 35)
"Have love one to another"

Messengers
Jedi in their fictional roles often carried messages from supreme chancellors or for ambassadorial purposes. We have a higher and vastly more important role as Christians. We carry the Message of Jesus Christ to the world. No message has ever been more vital to the galaxy, no world needs it more than our own. We are litterally acting as extensions for the Savior's Message to the world.
What a fine Jedi Mission to be engaged in.

Ambassadors
Jedi are often ambassadors for political purposes. We help organizations get along. We help people get along. In the cause of doing this we represent the interests of many pieces of the picture as we represent the greater good.
We also serve as ambassadors to the Jedi way of life. We have something that is not well understood though the movies do provide some common means of understanding.
Most of all we are abassadors from a secret Kingdom to this world. We as Disciples of Jesus Christ represent His interests here, and that is our greatest obligation.

Escorts
An Escort is a specific role that can be attributed to Guarding. The difference is that as an Escort you are not Just providing safety, but Direction. This is an excellent example of our role a Jedi in the lives of others. We have been given many gifts, some of them allow some of us to see clearly what is ahead, they give us the strength to help others so that we can do so.
As Escorts to the people around us, we have a mission to help our loved ones and anyone else who will accept our help to arrive safely.

Liberators
To liberate is to free someone from captivity. In the Star Wars Universe Jedi might often rescue actual prisoners from the clutches of alien Villains or dark forces. Today we fight an ever more heated battle.
Todays captors are Ignorance, Hatred, Fear and the lack of Compassion. Today the extremely addictive is everywhere. In an age of ease and convenience we must struggle more than ever to temper our wills and avoid the vortexes represented by Drugs, Peer pressure, Laziness, and spending over our means.

Though the Jedi are not perfect beings, we must strive to take ground in these five areas in order to fill our roles as Jedi and Disciples of Christ. No work is more rewarding.

Answer the following questions in your Introduction topic.

Quote:

1. What is prayer?

Prayer is communication with God, and the acceptance and merging or your will with His.

Quote:

2. Does God always know what I am thinking?

Absolutely.

Quote:

3. Does God always give me what I want?

If you ask enough He will but its in a 'be careful what you wish for' manner. God operates on his own time and we know that whatever his will, it is what is best for us and though we may not understand now, eventually we will understand and we will also agree that His course was best.

Quote:

4. Does God know exactly what I need?

God Knows it better than you. With exactness.

Quote:

5. Why doesn’t God answer my prayers right away?

Prayer is also an Exercise of Faith. If Prayer was meant to be a shopping list than maybe it would work instantly, but God sees a lot more of what is going on than we do and He is teaching us to be obedient and rely on him with faith.
If we have faith and ask for Good things we can be sure that they will come. But not when.

Quote:

6. Should I believe God will answer my prayers?

Absolutely. He probably loves you more than you do. For some people that is quite an achievement.
(Reminds me of a quote: "Some of the greatest love affairs have been performed by one actor unassisted.")

Quote:

7. Is there a special way to pray?

The Lord's prayer was an example to us how we are to model our prayers. If you want to learn to pray take that prayer apart and model it.
Additionally you should remember that Prayer is not a shopping list or a wish list. The main function of prayer is to learn God's will and submit your own will to it.

Quote:

8. How should I pray?

On your knees folding your arms is preferable since it shows respect and your own position as humble before God. Obviously there are prayers in your heart and prayers in meetings and as you stand. The general rule should be that you make an effort to show respect for what you are doing and who you are doing it with.
