assignment 1

1. What do you think it means to follow the Jedi Way?
It means to respect life, and to help others.

2. In your own words define the Force. What is it? How did it originate? How does it work?
The force is an electromagnetic force the runs through all living beings. It was made by God to do the work of God. It cannot be explained, except by wisdom from God.

Go to the martial arts section. It is pinned in the Health & Fitness section of the lecture hall. Practice the basic stances.

Of particular importance is the Horse stance. This is a basic grounding and stability stance. See how long you can hold it. Every day see if you can hold it for a few seconds more.

Before you can advance to padawan stage you need to be able to hold horse stance for 5 minutes.

I was able to hold a horse stance for five minutes. I have to do this in karate, so i was used to it.

Younglings should be practicing the meditation techniques that can be accessed from the main page.

Before you can become a Padawan you should be able to spend at least 15 minutes in meditation/prayer every day.

This is something I've really lacked in my life, but I've been able to spend 15+ min each day for the past three days. I'm glad i'm being encouraged to spend time with God, i needed it.

Excellent, Mark. I am glad that you are spending more time with God. I believe it is essential for anyone who wants to serve God's will. If you don't spend time with God you cannot know what his will is.

One test to find out whether you have what it takes to become a Jedi Knight relates to your attitude toward service.

You should start by doing at least one thing to help out around your home everyday, without being asked.

Then you should begin to look for people in your neighborhood, church, town, etc. that you can help. Mow lawns, weed flowerbeds, clean out garages, even changing light bulbs can be a big help for some people.

Finally, get in the habit of helping out wherever you can, and try to help people without them knowing about it. Let them be surprised.

For this assignment write telling about the kind of things you have done and how you felt after you had done them.

I am currently helping out at my church every sunday. I've been helping people alot, even before i decided to become a jedi. Service is what originally got me interested in the jedi way.

Go to The Force page and practice "Feeling the Force" and "Making the Force Flow."
The more you practice the stronger you will become in the Force. Post about your experience in your introduction topic.

I've practiced similar exercises at RJK, so this wasn't to new for me. I am already fairly strong with the force. I can 'force pool' anywhere in my body, but not outside my body.

"Force pooling" isn't a very good idea. The idea is to get the Force to flow smoothly without pooling.

There are certain exercises for martial arts where you focus the Force in your limbs, but it shouldn't stay there for long.

That's true. The Force is something that needs to be flowing all the time. It is like water. If water pools it can become stagnant. The Force is the same way.
