Greetings, members of the Christian Order of Jedi Knights!

My name is Michael, I'm nineteen years old and I live in the Northland of the USA with my mother and younger brother. I'm extremely excited to be here and anxious to begin my studies here with you all.

I've lived a very non-religious life as of yet, and always felt something missing. Although I was baptized when I was an infant, I never truly understood my faith and we never went to church. I'm not completely ignorant towards to subject of Christianity or religion in general, but I feel I never received the proper teachings to accept Christ into my heart.

I tried to leave this just a little vague, to allow follow up questions to help you all get to know me and hopefully I'll get to know a little about some of you.

May the Force always be with each and every one of you!

1. What do you think it means to follow the Jedi Way?
To follow the Jedi Way is to serve every person and defend the innocent. It is to strive to become a better person, everyday. To accept the Will of the Force. Quite simply, I believe to follow the Jedi Way is to learn, to teach, to protect, and to accept.

2. In your own words define the Force. What is it? How did it originate? How does it work?
I believe the Force is a life-giving source of energy that surrounds us all, and connects all living things. It is in the air we breathe and the ground that we walk upon. I believe the Force was gift given to this universe by God, to create life. I would like to think the Force fuels itself, in the sense that it's flowing and never ending. I believe it was here long before we were, and it will continue to exist long after we're gone.

:)
Greetings Michael,
Welcome to COJK. I am Master Jan-Qui Coran & we will do our best to help you out. We are very pleased to meet you. :)
You mentioned you are 19.
Are you still in school or have you graduated?
May I please ask what faith you were baptized in?

I see that you found the Youngling Assignments. Very good.
Work on them for the next month as we get to know you better.

Please remember this that this is not a religious group. We train as Jedi with a Christian empahsis on it. Meaning that we teach the Jedi way in a Christian way.
We will hope that you will get to know Jesus better :) .

Thank you
May the Lord of the Force be with you always,
Master Jan-Qui Coran

Thank you very much!

Master Jan-Qui, I graduated from high school last year. As of now, I'm not enrolled in any schooling. I was baptized in the Catholic church, but never confirmed. In fact, the last time I have been to my church was when I was baptized.

I will remember that we train to follow the Jedi Way. I have trained as a Jedi in the past, but I believe the Force has guided me towards this Order to help me strengthen my relationship with God. I feel like I have been pushing this away my whole life, afraid to leave my comfort zone. I feel that I need to make it right, and ask for forgiveness.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here, I believe training here will be very enjoyable and extremely efficient.

Very good. :)
Just take your time with everything.
I am a Catholic myself & have found that learning how to meditate has helped me calm myself down so I can be more in tune with the Grand Master's wishes.

I have to agree with Master Silmerion that you did a very good job on the 1st assignment. Keep up the good work.
May the Force be with you aka MTFBWY

BTW Happy Star Wars Day :)

Assignment 2

I have practiced all the basic stances listed in the Martial Arts thread. I will continue to practice these every morning to better associate myself with them.

I have been introduced to the horse stance before in past training, and was previously able to hold it for five minutes. Today, I attempted to go lower than normal, and was able to hold it for about three minutes.

I will continue to practice the horse stance in particular each day, increasing my time and strength.

Also Master Jan-Qui, I have indeed heard about this "Star Wars Day" before, and with a little quick research I see the connection of May 4th and Star Wars. :D I'm surprised I never thought of that before!

Assignment 3

Generally, my meditation/prayer sessions last for 15-20 minutes, and I try to do it periodically throughout the day. Usually, I try to do three sessions a day, in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

I prefer to meditate outside, but when the house is quiet I'll meditate in the sun room or the basement.

I was babysitting my nephew today, so I took him to the park and I spent my time in peaceful meditation, while still keeping a close eye on him. ;) Even with the few slight distractions, I found it to be very enjoyable.

Assignment 4 - Service

I very much like this assignment. I help out around the house everyday, whenever I can. My mother works quite often, and any little thing I can do to help lengthen her free time, I make sure it gets done. I also babysit for my older sisters quite often, and I make sure my little brother stays on a good path. When it comes to family, I feel I help out anywhere I can if only to hearten us up.

I feel I could improve my services to strangers. Although I'm quite active and get outside everyday, I really don't find myself interacting with people I don't know on a regular basis. Where I come from, neighbors don't really know each other and most people like to keep to themselves.
I am moving soon, just across town but I think it would be a good idea to try to become the initiator to create a neighborly bond. I would like to work on my social skills, as I can be shy at times.

But when I go shopping (which is NOT very often ) I find it very easy to help out, for example, performing long reaches when I notice someone having trouble with a high item, or carrying out bags for the elder in line ahead of myself before I check out, even just making eye contact with someone and giving them a quick, reassuring smile.

For me, it depends on the situation to determine how often I provide my services, but when the option arises, I never walk away.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just an upbeat sort of day for me today, you know? So I colored this post, not sure if it makes it harder to read though, or create any sort of problem. Please, let me know if it is unnecessary.

Hmm, I see that my last post went sort of off-screen, for me anyway. I can't read all that I said, it is cut off. <_< I wonder if it has to do with the colors? Let me know if it is the same for you.

I apologize for spamming up my own topic, but I can't quite seem to figure out how to edit my posts, or if I even can?
I don't know how often posts run off-screen, but if you have a problem reading it, you can just highlight the whole post and copy. Then you can just paste it anywhere and clearly read everything I said. :) B)

:) Greetings Michael,
No problem with the colors--it livens up the page. :)
You may edit in the edit button on the left side of the post on the top you want to edit at.
This is very helpful because even though we are Jedi we DO make mistakes.

I wouldn't say you are spaming anything yet. It seems you just want to make your posts interesting.

If we see you seem to be over doing it a bit too much we will let you know but for now you are fine.

I use green blue & brown a lot, depending on what I have to say & who I have to say it. I use red when I need to correct someone---just so they can see it easier.

I hope that helps.
