✵✵✵ Clan Europe ✵✵✵

So a few days ago I downloaded Spartacus season 1 and since then something keeps opening tabs in my browsers every +-3 hours :<

It usually leeds me to a filesharing site (safe according to siteadvisor), but an hour ago when I opened Runescape I went straight to a phishing site (which actually started with www.runescape.com/).

I've scanned every file on my computer with both McAfee and MallwareBytes but I haven't found anything. I also cleared all cookies on every browser but that help either.

Any ideas?

Might have picked up some adware (usually included sneakily with downloads). If so, this might help: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
If not, ComboFix is pretty good at picking up malware that other programs sometimes miss. To get this, download ComboFix: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/

Yer McAfee sucks :P

Your better off installing a few of the free ones, but only having one firewall.

Some scanners pick up viruses other can't.

I'll ask a friend which one he used when he had a problem like this.

Good Luck in the mean time :)

Malwarebytes. You definately got something extra when you downloaded Spartacus.

A decent free Anti-Virus is Avast! (http://www.avast.com/en-gb/) however if you have money to spend then I'd suggest you get Kaspersky.

@Snelle - He already said he tried Anti-malwarebytes :p

AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes and ComboFix are the way to go.
Also, ditch that retarded McAfee. Avast! is your best option!

Btw, any chance you still got that phising URL? I'll add it to CE's censor/blacklist

Solution:

Download: Rkill, Malwarebytes, adwcleaner.

Start -> MSCONFIG -> Startup -> Untick every box which has unknown publisher.

Reboot your machine in safe mode. Run Rkill, then scann everything with Malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

Should be fine.

P.S. I suggest you to stop using Peer to peer programs such as torrents. Malware now spread through them. Altho they were pretty safe in the past now they are no longer safe.

Is Housecall Trend Micro any good these days anymore? It used to be pretty good online scanner back in the days.

I think Eset is good if you need antivirus in general (not every version has antimalware), but it is free only for one month. Or you can change your E-Mail there every month and you have infinity trial :DD I paid for it just month ago :) Eset is from Slovakia! <3
