Amusing. Indie record shops in Edmonton, at least, are not dead. They seem quite lively. Maybe it depends a bit on the people running them. My friend Rich says he's completely turned his shop around from when he bought it 10 or so years ago, and it seems to me that he's done so through a combination of hard work and staying on top of demand. Also, Rich's prices are consistently cheaper than large chains on stuff like imports, though he can't beat them on the latest major releases. |

Oh, so much on which to comment! #46 - Decency: Please don't get me started. While I understand that, yes, children do watch television, many people still get offended at things that just shouldn't offend them. If images of war don't disturb you, then shut up about the use of the word "bitch." On the flipside, I do think that artists should use a bit of common sense and realize that, yes, children do watch television. #45 - Rootkits: Been there, done that, never buying from Sony again. :( #40 - Parrotheads: The Jimmy Buffet/Hawaiian shirt thing may have been (MAYBE) trendy in the 80s, it's not now. Hasn't been for a long time. Jimmy Buffet just ain't all that, sorry. #35 - Sean Combs/Puff Daddy/P. Diddy: Get a real fucking name, plz. "P. Diddy"??? Give me a break. #29 - Popera: Yeah, um, no. Pop is pop, opera is opera. You mix them and you get, like, showtunes, or something. #28 - Disappearance of Indie Record Shops: In Houston, they were few and far between, which is sad for the fourth-largest city in the US. When I moved to Austin, record chains were shunned like the plague, and Waterloo Records reigned supreme. It was awesome. Now, here in Albuquerque, good luck finding a record store, period. I won't even mention the radio stations. :( #21 - Hip Hop Videos: Sorry, Sim, not to diss you and yo homiez, but hip hop videos are really, really bad. Fashizzle. #17/#12 - Fred Durst/Kevin Federline: GTFO #16 - Replacement Lead Singers: INXS fucked up so much. Michael must be spinning in his grave. What a farce, and they ended up picking an ex-Elvis impersonator!! I deleted all of my INXS mp3s (by which I mean I burned them to a CD to put in storage in case I ever change my mind... heheh). |

I was expecting to read something that wasn't on the list already. I was wrong. |

Apparently not Cybersquirt's favorite person

About "Popera"......probably not exactly the same thing, but I found the opera performance from The Fifth Element to be among the most inventive pieces of music I've ever heard.....an extraordinary fusion of Opera and modern music. I find myself wondering as I type this why I never bought the soundtrack. |

I'm glad they mentioned P.Diddy because I just don't get how he is so successful. I thought the list was one of the better lists. Most of the time with this type of list, I am always, "what the hell are they talking about?" I still in shock that on VH1's 100 Most Influential Women Rockers that Joan Jett is #33. Why? I don't know. I forget just who she beats out but she comes ahead of a lot of influential women musicians. I took the dead or alive quiz after I finished reading the list and am I only one who didn't know about Falco? |

I knew about Falco's death because of the Bloodhound Gang. Otherwise, he's not exactly on my radar. |

"Rock Me Amadeus" is one of my guilty favorites. Falco wasn't on my radar which is probably why I didn't know he's been dead for 18 years. |
None of my contributions would be new or interesting to anyone who has read the linked list. You, unfortunately, saw no problem repeating the list with different wording. I don't know why you would expect me to say "anything that's not death metal sux". |

It's a comment thread, ergo, comments are made. Is that a hard concept to grasp? |

Frankly, I find comments about the list itself a hell of a lot more interesting than NO comments, or a string of replies that all say "LOL" or "it's so true." Carry on. |

@Popera: The Donizetti part was really the good thing about this 'piece'. @Fake Lesbians: Yes,bad, ridiculous and everything else, but goes well with everything else that is attached to the pop biz. All these gangstas talkin' crazy and then succumbing to a small white kid if only they bring in the dough. @replacement lead singers: Freddy Mercury was Queen, INXwhat cannot simply put someone else in front. It may work for a boygroup, but bands should break-up at certain careerstopping events. Why didn't Nirvana hire a new guy? :P |

27 Jukebox Musicals: I hate musicals in general. I was forced to watch several when I was still at school. What shocks me more than jukebox musicals are musicals based on films - Dance of the Vampires, a musical based on The Fearless Vampire Killers. I hate comments like "What, there's also a film? Is it based on the musical?" I knew that Falco had an accident, I just didn't remember when. He must have been very popular in Europe, mainly in the 80s before I was born (my favourite is still "Der Kommissar"). I checked the quiz and it said he died in 88, but he had 2 big hits in the 90s as well, Out of the Dark and Egoist, so I did some research. He died in 98, not 88, but it seems like both songs and the album got popular after his death. |

Yeah, Falco pulled a Tupac and made some money for his best friends even after he kicked the bucket. |

@jester @Fake Lesbians It is easier to be a ( Fake Lesbian) lesbian nowadays. All the support and the spoils go your way Unlike the times when the Rolling Stones fucked ballet dancers and (just to be versatile) supermodels Be gay! Be happy! Fake lesbians, why not? Mike Jagger is too old to be true. So, is the tradition of a tastfull fuck must die? No way
