http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...24-2702,00.html This article discusses the contentious issue of our new no-more-welfare laws. The government spokesperson serves up some figures that seem to suggest a high number of people are losing their payments due to failure to comply with the rules. He says, no, it's a smaller figure when compared with old figures. The welfare group spokesperson says no, it's a higher figure. Who is telling the truth? What are the facts? Are there more people being cut off or less? Why is reading the paper becoming an exercise in existentialism?

They are so obvious sometimes. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...44-2702,00.html "Single mums back in work - all thanks to Little Johnny."  But this one is even stupider: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...69-2702,00.html "More people are married - thanks to Little Johnny." Should they be allowed to publish this crap??

I belong to one of those families that does not speak to or see its members as often as we should, but if someone needed anyone to fall on a sword for her, there would be a queue waiting to commit the deed. -Min Jin Lee | |

No, that was the former leader of the Opposition. But his deputy, Peter Costello, takes credit for raising the birth rate. :o |
