http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/loc...8104922239.html There's going to be a Muslim convention here that apparently will stir up young Muslim men to bomb things. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...70-2702,00.html A mosque in Adelaide will no longer be built because a man who used to pray there went to Baghdad and has been arrested for anti-co-alition activities. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5006785,00.html One of two "Somalis are scary" themed articles in the paper today. The first article is outright scaremongering. The "Christian critics" the article refers to are probably the famous "Catch the Fire" preachers who were recently found guilty of vilifying Muslims at a conference of their own. The veto of the mosque is deeply disturbing: what better way to alienate people than by denying them a place to pray? And I think I'm going to write a letter to The Australian complaining about their Somali campaign. The basic gist of this seems to be: we can no longer allow Muslims to speak, gather in mosques, and we must be deeply suspicious of them because of their distressing tendency to become loony extremists who want to kill us. Freedom of speech? Sorry, that now only applies to people we like. Freedom of religion? Judaism, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist yes. Muslim, no. Multi-culturalism and acceptance of refugees? I think those days are going. :o |
