http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/iraq-b...1405293249.html I guess we should have expected this, because humans are, well, horrible, but there's something about a previously oppressed group turning around once they're no longer oppressed and kicking the heads of their neighbours and countryfolk that is terribly sad. George, John and Tony are looking more and more like twits for ousting Saddam without having a proper puppet government ready to step in. The guy they've got now is completely crap as a puppet: he is clearly running his own agenda. Did we say "democracy for Iraq"? Was this what we had in mind? http://www.theage.com.au/news/opinion/why-...279.html?page=2 I can't decide. Buggering off now, leaving the horrendous mess seems pretty rude. But are we helping? Will the loonies settle down if we go? Is there going to be worse things happen if we go? If we stay? Is it just hindsight that makes us wise, or was this all predictable? |

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/fiv...2338882514.html I can't believe the depth of of bad feeling towards Hicks. Basically, he is guilty of being in Afghanistan, along with a whole bunch of others, on the wrong team. 5 years isn't enough? Is it because John Walker Lindt got 20 years, Hicksy has to as well? We need scapegoats? What is really going on? |

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/hic...2943276209.html I'm really getting pissed off now. Mori has done an excellent job defending Hicks. I guess he wasn't supposed to. :o

http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/terror...3722655302.html Gee, I wonder why they didn't get him to confess to JFK as well? I would expect this announcement from Mugabe, or Putin, or Peverez. I feel profoundly saddened and sickened that a confession gained by torture is published by us. There is something horribly horribly wrong with our world. I request transfer to The Republic, where you can tell the bad guys from the good guys. |

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/hig...4761470787.html This is a travesty of justice. I have nothing but sympathy for this man, now: I consider he has already been punished for his sins. I am absolutely disgusted that the American and Australian governments collaborated to ignore the law and treat this man this way. They have essentially tortured him until he pleaded guilty to a charge they had to think up. And now, they have the nerve to plan another prison sentence for him?

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/out...5366078719.html I am rather happy with the sentence meted out to Mr.Hicks. I find it rather funny anyone should be getting outraged now. Gee, the Mickey Mouse tribunal handed down a Mickey Mouse decision! Surprise! He's been the whipping boy for 5 years. Enough.
