Return of the Jedi; well I had to do something this month

I am finally reconnected to the Net. Yes, a whole month of no Internet connection. :medusa: I am here to say, I don't like going without Internet connection. At all. :motz: And Mr.FPS and Netspace and Telstra and everyone else who has contributed to this extremely unsatisfactory state of affairs are in deep deep trouble with me. Possibly for ever. I am thinking of a new sig - "If it ain't broke, don't bloody upgrade it." But it lacks the necessary emotion. I'm working on it.

I am now going to read about all that has been happening, or not.
Glad to be back. :)

Yeah, no internet sucks. I too had an absence of 2 weeks due to circumstances beyond my control.

Mind you I suppose there is an argument about addiction in there somewhere.... ;D

Welcome back, you two. Please proceed to be garrulous. I am not good at holding conversation on my own.
I belong to one of those families that does not speak to or see its members as often as we should,
but if someone needed anyone to fall on a sword for her, there would be a queue waiting to commit the deed.

What am I? Apparently, chopped liver? <_< :'(

Otherwise, I echo Bex's sentiment. Delighted to see you two! :)

I'd like to add that at this point I have taken my Spider Jerusalem action figure and tied his wrist to my Cassidy (from Preacher) action figure just so I can work out which positions are feasible with them and which aren't.

Read that and weep, internet. Weep!

Pfft. You know what I mean. We both rely on the chatty types.

Thank you.

Funny thing is my mum's internet died today, which I was convinced was a problem with the ADSL signal. After nearly one hour on the phone arguing with someone telling me to reboot the pc, swap microfilters, yadda, yadda and all this after he had run a line test and diagnosed a line fault I started getting a little miffed. I wanted to just shout send a f***** engineer now please but that approach consisting of a firm, "can you just please send an engineer because I am getting fed up of trying things I know can't be the problem?" got me a cut-off call.
Helpdesks here are so infuriating.

Especially helpdesk's staffed with people who don't know anything, but are reading a script.
You have already done/tried whatever they want but you have to do it again anyway because that's what the script says.

You know, there are several people close to me who would horrified that such an invitation was extended to me. Sort of like asking my dad to sing. ;D
So glad to be connected again. :grouphug:

I have decided it's not addiction: it's just convenient. I couldn't read the paper, or find out how to make Mira a Jedi, or why those escaped criminals disappear, or read any interesting snippets from cbc or Vermont. And it was very very frustrating and dull.

Netspace blames Telstra who blames Netspace, who blame us for not realising we were disconnected on the 20th April, and on checking and finding it was the 5th April we were disconnected and that they totally failed to realise they had not reconnected us despite sending us a bill for ADSL2 on the 18th, they are very sorry and our first month is now free.
:bex:
So not good enough. However, my joy at once more being able to blather is distracting me nicely from the need for further diatribe.

Krazy: One wonders why they bother calling it the helpdesk. Particularly when all the people who know anything are somewhere else.
Perhaps they assume anyone ringing is completely ignorant and therefore undeserving of notice. :rooster:

Welcome back, both of you.

Eral, when I saw all the coloured little envelopes telling me there were things to read, then looked over to see who was posting, I thought you were trying to set some sort of record, or something.

It wasn't different to what I normally do, lars: it just that there was more than a day's worth of posts for me to attend to. :t2:

BR!! You used that on discharger! And now, to me?? The pain!! And after I pined for you all. Really. :bullwhip:

I'd like to take this opportunity to inform you that this is my forum. I don't have to be admin for it to be mine. I just have to hang around here. And Oh look, I do. Every day. When Someone isn't disconnecting from the InterNet. You can always join the extremely large group of people who do not find me amusing and hang out with them. Otherwise, try to bear up under the pain like Regullus and Bex. ;D
By the way, Regullus, great job manning the fort while I was incapacitated.
Fear not, those excellent links are appreciated and will be pondered over. Even though lara will accuses me of necro-posting. :cafe:

Oh, BR I think I saw some posts of yours at Obsidian yesterday. Dark Raven, vamp avatar, FN link? Gotta be you.

The reason for the internet outage (and a day later their phone) at my parent's house...another (quite obviously wayward and I have to assume moronic) engineer disconnected them at the exchange!

I feel like phoning the helpdesk back and explaining why switching phone sockets and ADSL filters would never have solved the problem (as I surmised) but I feel they just wouldn't get it.

Irritating, very irritating and not good for my stress levels.

*Breathes deeply* :D
