I'm sorry the girl has left the area but delighted she left her husband. You never know, Joe, you two may meet up again when she is in a better place.

I agree. It's almost undoubtedly best for her to retreat to the safety of family right now, and starting another relationship immediately may not have been a good idea.

I still think that people with miserable attitudes towards humanity in general tend to make themselves miserable, more than anything. (With a pointed look towards Krazy.)
I belong to one of those families that does not speak to or see its members as often as we should,
but if someone needed anyone to fall on a sword for her, there would be a queue waiting to commit the deed.

Of course it's better. That day he called her an orphan, because her parents are divorced, and told her he married her because she has nobody (which is entirely untrue). He then "ordered" her to leave.

He's going to be really sorry when he realizes what happened.

Sounds like a pretty typical abuse tactic ("you need to stay with me because nobody else will ever love you").

Good for her for getting out. Hope she makes it stick.

I'm very proud of her.

I think it's kind of sad she has to return to being "protected" by her father and brother. I'm glad she has been able to leave her unhappy situation: but I hope she doesn't now suffer from the stigma of being returned goods.
It must be terrible to live in a culture where women don't have an independent existence. :(

Oh, I don't know. Family can be good for providing a place where you can lick your wounds in peace and figure out what the hell to do next. There's nothing saying independence won't come once she's ready for it, but it'll take time. With no job or anything of her own, this sounds to me like the best interrim solution. And there's absolutely no reason to assume that her male relatives would treat her the same way as this husband-creature. (For one thing, they'd refuse to take her in if they weren't backing her.)

Her parents are not your typical strict Muslim tyrant parents. She said she's never even been inside a mosque.

They sent her to a German high school in Tehran so that she wouldn't have to deal with the pressures a woman typically faces in normal society. She was free to wear what she wanted and associate with whomever she wanted.
