Will you marry me?
In the shadow of the light from a black sun
Frigid statue standing icy blue and numb
Where are the frost giants I've begged for protection?
I'm freezing

I am going here (that sounds wrong, doesn't it?) for Yum Cha today, to celebrate a friend's birthday. (Happy birthday to Wayne.)
Why have I chosen to hijack Joe's completely stupid thread with this subject?

I am officially The Rich now. We are having the $38 all you can eat course. They charge $30 for a main. Very very nice mains - I especially like the sound of the beef with lotus root - but really. So indulgent. I am really looking forward to it as well.
I am corrupt. Seduced by comfort. I refuse to pay $38 for a bottle of wine, though. :rooster:
And what will I wear? Do I dress nicely i.e. a skirt, to placate my middle-class ettiquette neurosis? Or dress as a regular person and wear jeans to demonstrate my 1. utter coolness 2. lack of middle class ettiquette?
There was a time when we wouldn't have dreamed of suggesting we all eat at such a location: someone was always too poor, waiting for a pay packet, paying off something, out of work - and now, here we are wealthy.
When did this happen?

We are totally corrupt. Lunch was great: we are going back again.
Paid $24 for the chardy, and $28 for a very nice sauv blanc - which I don't think is anyone's signature wine. Yet. Wayne said I wasn't allowed to bring my own wine in. :(
Really really beautiful restaurant, overlooking the river. And there was a woman wearing a sky-blue checked Chanel suit jacket with white fake fur cuffs and collar that was THE worst item of clothing worn seriously I have seen to date. Very very satisfying.
I wore jeans with my Jedi knight robe and top and red shoes.
And after lunch, we rode on a Ferris wheel. Wayne said it was a very good birthday. :)
