I am managing my ob/com/depressive/anxiety personality quite nicely at the moment. 200 mgs of Zoloft daily is a big help, I confess. (I :4jon: pharmaceutical drugs. And chardonnay.) Proof of this is that I can take an interest in events occurring further away than my kitchen.

However, my government is intent on ruining my day. I find this test deeply depressing.

I know Canada has a citizenship test, and it is viewed fairly positively: our test is supposed to be modelled on it.

The only people who will pass this test are well-educated people with access to resources. Forget about bringing your elderly parent to your new country. They won't pass. Hoping to bring your spouse and family over, now that you have achieved refugee status? Forget it.

My dad wouldn't pass this test today. I guess I'm illegal.

Struth, I'll take the test this avo then stick a skippy on the barby sink a few VBs, watch the pommies lose at cricket again and I'll be a fair-dinkum Aussie like the rest of youse. Ripper!

I believe there is a citizenship test in Britain, I really don't know what it actually proves other than you can revise for a fairly meaningless exam all told.

Uh, I'm pretty sure booze and Zoloft aren't supposed to mix......
Poor baby. Couldn't find a fight anywhere else so you had to come here, huh. -Cyber.

Drew: :hyper: It does say that on the package.

Krazy: The test in itself is meaningless, it doesn't even cover important questions that go right to the heart of Aussieness, such as:
-why does everyone hate Collingwood?
-is Australian cricket due for a slump such as the one experienced in the seventies?
- will you be relieved when the spring racing starts, and the media stops showing us politicians and concentrates on frocks and horses?
-what is your opinion on designer beer, and am I a wanker if I drink anything other than VB?

The test is meant to pander to the xenophobes in the country. It's an insult to every immigrant in the country. The' White Australia' policy should not make a comeback, nor should Pauline Hanson.
Migrants have made Australia a better place to live in. We should be grateful to them for choosing to live here.
