Martha Beck has a very sound approach. Just the kind of person who should be writing advice for young women. The elderly gentleman and the medical assistance: I like the sound of all of those frocks. If you are going to wear the orange to the Carribbean party, we'll count it out. Fabulous sounding fabric. The less back earth tones would get Krazy's vote, and I like a less back when it's subtle and elegant. The blue button up with the flashing legs and adjustable cleavage: very nice. However, since you are going to be wearing beach sandals :o, I recommend the shorter patterned wrap around. Long dresses don't work with beach sandals.
:o I am just going to pop into my wardrobe and hug a strappy sandal for a moment.

Wrap dresses are the shiznit. I enjoyed that article... and I would guess that attentive listening has been crucial in worming my way into the hearts of those who <3 me. |

Being a little less urban than Eral, I love the sandals and they would look fine with a longer dress. I agree save the tropical dress for the barbecue. |

Pictures on their way to Nibby for hosting now. They're the finest quality a tired intoxicated woman can produce by herself with a camera phone. Still, should give you some idea. Eee! Can we paint each other's toenails after this? |

Only if I get to paint Nibby's, preferably orange. I should take a shot of Katya's portrait of Pooky and send it to Nibby, too. Dress Dress Dress Dress Dress Pooky |

Ooooh! I vote for blue nail polish for Inky, orange for Nibby. As to the dresses: I love the back of the earth tone - very nice. I have a question is it going to be warm enough to wear the sleeveless dresses without a sweater? If not I would save the earth tone dress for later. I'm really torn, the blue wrap really hugs your figure (and a very nice figure too) but the light blue is very relaxed and casual yet still looks very nice. Hmm. After reviewing the pics, I think the light blue. Not to mention blue toe polish would make it kick w/the sandals. It's probably my least favorite but the most casual and appropriate for the event. Later you come out with the backless and the wrap for the big wow. I just thought of something, how often do you wear dresses? If it's an annual event barring weddings and funerals, I'd go w/the blue wrap. This talk of dresses has made me realize two things, one I haven't worn a dress or a skirt for 4 yrs and my friend never returned my dresses I loaned her. I did tell her to take her time but I think it was a year ago I loaned them to her.

Yeah, I'm not a huge dress wearer. Maybe three or four times a year? It's part of why I want to wear one. Yes, I want to make the boy wipe his chin, but I also keep these things in my closet, might as well get SOME use out of them. This weekend is supposed to be warm, but the nights will still be chilly. You can't especially tell, but the brown is a very thin, tell-all fabric and if the glass-cutters come out, well, I'm not sure I want THAT much attention. Maybe I'll take a thermos of something hot to nurse, to reduce the need for additional layers. "Have some beer!" "Naw, I got tea!" I am a wild and crazy girl. |

The blue wrap if chilly: the brown one if warm. Same as Bex's vote. EDIT: it appears we are all in consensus on the wrap. :) As a person who wears dresses (well, skirts) on a regular basis, I would view the blue button up sleeveless as a day dress. This party is at night, therefore the dress can be more oomphy. The button up is ideal for a daytime barbecue, or lunch. Chacos would be perfectly acceptable footwear with it. What about a pair of black ballet flats with the blue wrap? Or red ballet flats. You must wear shoes at SOME point in Boulder. (Tell me you don't wear socks with your sandals. ) As for the brown dress, it must be worn with strappy sandals. It is absolutely gorgeous. Brown, or gold. ![]() It's nice of Regullus to refer to me as "urban": but it's OK, you can call me a shoe snob. Nibby, orange nail polish would suit you much better. Terracotta would be perfect for you. :) |

'Cept it's Boulder, Eral. Having lived in Nelson, B.C., I'd say blue is probably the right pick. Brown is fabulous, which means it's for something special. Wrap-arounds are just not something I've ever liked, although you wear it well, Inky. To me, they smack summer wedding and I'm trying not to upstage the bride. |

Chacos ARE my dressy shoes. Most days I kill a squirrel and wrap my feet in its hide. I actually do have some super sexy heels, but I want to be comfortable and relaxed, and I'm still not fully over the sprained ankle. Besides, the person of interest is my height, maybe a hair shorter, and although there are things to be said for eye-level breastesses, it's not what I'm going for just now. |

Party was a blast! I wimped out at 1AM, redolent of spilled beer. Neither makeup nor hair ended up being quite as pimped-out as I planned, due to my refusal to slather products on with a trowel, which is apparently necessary. Didn't come out too badly, though. As for the boy? Totally inconclusive. He was very flirty with most girls there, but I might be imagining a little extra seriousness and tenderness towards me. Have decided not to worry about it. There's still a chance something could come out of it, but I have better things to do than hold my breath. I might just be blunt with him one of these days when we're out climbing. Anyway, sorry for being all high-school. It's been really nice to have such a crush, and I thank you all for indulging me. |
