One vote only this time. Hopefully, our suggestion will enable Regullus to discover her true preference, and name the dog Winter. :) |

Callie got 2 votes. Lida only got one vote. Not criticizing, just saying. :) |

Damn!! I hate buggering up a poll. On re-checking, yes, it should be Callie, NOT Lida. (Sorry, LD) Does this mean you like the name Callie, Regullus??? BR: I'm sure Regullus will take that into account. Great. Now they're complaining about the spelling. |

The decision is made and will please no one.
:) Calantha (lovely flower) aka Callie. The reason for this choice is simpy we have a flower theme going on and I might as well continue the theme; Lily, Paccysandra, Violet. Callie's a fine name, without being too cutesy or complicated. Could be worse, could have been Tulip. My husband believes her name is Kallan (Kaylan) meaning water. He wanted to call her Kaylie however there's a lot of similar names with that variation and I don't like any of them. Everyone was very helpful. Thanks. A very big thanks to both Eral who went thru the tedium of making the polls and to Nibby who went to the effort of posting numerous names. |

I think Callie is just fine. (Besides, didn't Eral initially say the polls were to nudge you into the decision that you really preferred Callie anyway?) |

Saskia! I also like Lida and Peri, and just skimming the comments, Callie is nice too. I've known many cats named Callie (calico) but never a dog. ADDED Oh, I see Callie won out. Good choice! Another flower feature is Calliandra. I once had a D&D character named Callliandra. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calliandra They are gorgeous puffballs, just like her! |

I am a HORRIBLY CARELESS person and deserve a kick in the head. I was feeding the ponies and I threw a bale of hay from the loft and it landed on Callie's head. All of the local vets are closed and my husband is taking her to the closest vet over an hour away + the driving's horrible due to a snowstorm. She had blood from somewhere on her paw and she is groggy. She could walk albeit unsteadily. I don't know if she will be alright or not. Hopefully she will and I will let you know. You know, all my irretrievably awful mistakes in life come from carelessnes. You would think at some point I would learn. |

Goodness! I hope she's okay. Puppies are remarkably pliable, and bounce back from much worse. Hopefully she just got a little smished and will be her normal self soon. |

So far she's checked out normally. Her x-ray revealed some muscular swelling but otherwise pupils were fine and by the time she got to the vet she seemed almost like her old self. Because it was her head, we need to keep an eye on loss of motor coordination and for seizures. They think she's okay. I am so FARKING lucky!!! ![]() Not only did my husband insist on taking her in a blizzard but it looks good that she will be fine. In the tens of thousands of times I fed the animals, I have NEVER hit anyone except a large pony with a bale of hay. I've fed thousands of times with various dogs never came close until I have 10lb puppy. :banghead: How I didn't check before throwing that bale is so incredibly stupid. ![]() Hopefully she is fine. Fingers crossed.

Oh, Reg. My kidlet went ass over teakettle down the stairs last month and developed temporary amnesia - it was farkin' scary, she couldn't remember changing the bookshelf in her room a week and a half ago - and we were in the hospital for three hours. She is fine. Little ones of all sorts bounce. I hope Callie is fine. (By the way, it's a nice name. I like.) |

I am very relieved. Tell yourFrank he is a very good husband. I remember reading a very distressing article where the author went on about there's no such thing as accidents, there are only failures of vigilance and proper care. He suggested we call accidents acts of stupidity or negligence, because we were all letting ourselves off the hook calling them accidents, and we should all shape up and start taking responsibility for our actions. I always thought it was the Pope writing under an alias. Gee, let's all feel even more guilt when we make a mistake. It was an accident. I bet you never ever throw a bale of hay on Callie again, and even better, she doesn't hold it against you.

OMG lara! You sound so calm.
B) Poor Katya.
:( I'm glad she's fine. Terrible. I'm not looking forward to childhood accidents. So far, Lily seems adventurous but sensible. I hope she stays that way. ![]() Callie seems her old self and she doesn't seem to hold it against me (Not that I'm sure she connected the injury to me.) or be afraid of the barn. Amazing. Perhaps she doesn't remember. I felt queasy when we went to the barn (No, I didn't throw any hay down while she was with me.) MyFrank can be an amazingly good guy but Franks are like that. ![]() As to accidents = carelessness, I do believe in accidents but I knew she was down there, I thought she was on the other side of the loft but I should've double checked. I'm lucky I didn't kill her. I was careless. :banghead: |

Glad Callie seems herself again. The main thing Reg, is you've learnt from the accident. I don't believe every accident is the result of negligence, of course some are, but things just happen. That's life. |
