Based upon your crew rank in the game, you may be eligible for a coinciding family rank. However, attaining the in-game rank is not necessarily the only prerequisite to obtaining your rank in the family. For example, you may be the crew rank 85 in game, which equates you to a capo, but still may be just a made man or even an associate if you haven't been given a crew or even inducted as a full member yet. Our family ranks are the more official ranks, while the in-game ranking system is more of a guideline and pre-requisite. Errand Boy (Rank 1-10) The absolute lowest level of affiliation with the family. An errand boy is simply someone who was invited to the family in order to be used for wet work or other miniscule tasks. An errand boy has no protection from the family, is not part of any crew within the family, and only affiliates with them for job related purposes. Associate (Rank 11-60) Once an errand boy has shown potential, they may be invited to associate themselves with the family. Usually a made man will sponsor the newly introduced associate, teaching them the ways of the family and helping with jobs. An associate is offered minimal protection from the family, but is not protected from other families or crews. Associates must kick up "points" (money) to their sponsor, usually a percentage of money earned from a job. Their sponsor typically determines the percentage of points to be given each week. The benefit of being an associate is that they may leave the family at any time, or change crews within the family and work with any member as they desire. When an associate is introduced by their sponsor, they are introduced as a "friend of mine." Made Man (Rank 61-70) Upon reaching this rank, and if the books are open for new membership, an associate will be formally inducted into the family by being made. A made man is a full member of the family with all privileges and protection that comes with membership. A made man can run a small crew of associates under the larger crews lead by a capo. Made men can earn money from their associates, but must also kick up points to their capo in similar fashion the associates kick up to them. Once made, they cannot be killed without approval from the boss of the family. Made men may not change crews once they have partnered up with a crew captain, but may still work with other crews as needed for specific jobs. When made men are introduced to other wiseguys, they are introduced as a "friend of ours." Once an associate has become a made man, they cannot leave the family, and must put the family before everything else. Capo (Rank 71-80) Any made man who has shown exceptional work ethic and profitability may earn a promotion to capo, or captain. As a capo, one can have control over their own crew within the family which usually oversees a particular area of operations within the city or other areas around the state. The capo is responsible for collecting points from his made men as well as kicking points up to the family’s boss. Capos have some of the best perks, and also the hardest responsibilities within the family. They usually settle issues before they reach the boss, and can logically think out solutions to any problems that arise for his crew. Underboss (Rank 81-90) There is only one underboss within the family, and they are appointed by the boss. An underboss is part of the administration of the family. They make sure points are being kicked up accordingly, all beefs are being settled, and that the boss knows what is going on within and around the family’s business. They are the next in line to the top position in the absence of the boss. An underboss does not collect points, nor do they kick up points (unless they choose to do so voluntarily). They keep all income earned. Boss (Rank 91-100) The highest rank of the family, also known as a Don or Capo di Tutti Capi. The boss makes all decisions for the family and its operations. He settles all beefs and meets with other families to conduct business as well as manage resources in wartime. The boss may remain in their position for life unless they retire or abdicate the position. The boss serves as an absolute ruler similar to a dictatorship, and may alter family rules and business accordingly, including any regulations set by his capos. Consigliere (No Rank) The consigliere is the advisor to the boss. Often staying behind the scenes and not directly involved in family business, the consigliere serves as a voice of reason or devil’s advocate to the boss in order to bring out the full potential and views of any plans or decisions. The consigliere is appointed by the boss, and can be any made member of the family regardless of their current rank. The consigliere holds no official role of authority, but is often shown the same respect as the boss or underboss. A consigliere, like the underboss, does not collect or pay and points. They may serve as an acting boss in absence of the boss and underboss, or delegate such authority to one of the capos. Edited by Carmine Giacomo, Dec 22 2015, 06:15 AM.
