With technological advancement, there are talks that Nvidia preparing to break such stigma of laptop GPUs with its GTX 1080 and 1070 that even the laptops can have with the same graphic display capabilities as its desktop versions. The rumors reportedly come from insiders from a computer hardware manufacturer. If such rumors are true and with Nvidia designing a much better cooling systems for their laptops, this may be music to a serious gamer's ear Meanwhile, such talk is said to have originated from PC Gamer. The tech news website has learned about the supposed Nvidia plans for gaming notebooks from insiders at Computex. Nvidia is reportedly gearing up to launch its innovative 10-series chips for notebooks. The truth to these chips is that they really will not be laptop versions of the desktop GPUs per se, instead, those will be the same chips applied to desktop only that they will be reportedly functioning at lesser thermal design power (TDP). This means that the laptop version will generate only the heat that the laptop's cooling system can handle in a normal operation. The tech news website also reported that Nvidia will no longer be producing a different M version of the desktop GPUs. In the past, the GeForce M version GPUs were obviously performing a bit lower that its desktop counterpart, for example, the GTX 970M is CUDA 1280 cores at ~993MHz while GTX 970 GPU Engine is 1664 cores at boosted 1178MHz Lastly, the recently announced GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 chips are expected to be available for certain laptops around August/September. With the new 10-series GPUs having amazing power saving capabilities, it is not too farfetched to assume that this is probably the reason that Nvidia is dropping the M series GPUs. During the Computex 2016 event, the Taiwanese tech company demonstrated the new gaming laptop with its detachable liquid cooling solution for the back It contains two 330W power supplies inside to maintain the performance even in overclocked conditions. The ASUS ROG GX800 gaming laptop contains an 18.4-inch screen with 4K resolution and features the G-Sync display tech from NVIDIA, Laptop Mag has learned. Nothing beats the laptop in the current market. ASUS also said that they are planning to launch a new laptop with the GTX 1080 video cards from NVIDIA. It is not confirmed yet whether it will be the desktop version or just the GTX 1080m card which is still more powerful than the GTX Titan X. To battle the heat coming from the laptop during intense gaming sessions, the Thermal Hydro Clocking docking station will provide the cooling. Detaching it could cause just a small 10 to 15 percent decrease in the overall framerates as the GPU underclocks if it reaches the maximum temperature to prevent damage throughout the rest of the laptop. Overclocking the ASUS ROG G800's twin SLI GTX 980s can reach up to a 236 percent performance increase. Of course, the user would have to plug the laptop in for the maximum effect. The plans for the GTX 1080 laptop are still vague at this point. However, it should be expected that it will be more powerful but it can also be cheaper or just at the same price of the current gaming laptops. For the price of $6000, the ASUS ROG GX800 laptop is indeed the most powerful portable gaming device in the market. Two GTX 980s plus the 4K screen will provide the best gaming experience on a laptop.
