The Glass Bridge Construction of the skywalk began March of 2004 and is estimated to be completed by 4th quarter of 2006. Glass Bridge will be suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of The Grand Canyon. On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the structure passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes (more that 71 million pounds). The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake within 50 miles. More than one million pounds of steel will go into the construction of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image |

Hi Everyone! Those pictures are amazing. For anyone with nerves of steel, walking out on the bridge would give you such a magnificent view. Unfortunately, one of those people wouldn't be me. Uh uh, no way! I copied this and sent it to my daughter who is hoping to visit the Grand Canyon in 2007. I hope it was OK to do that. |

What an incredibly beautiful piece of work and will be I'm sure an amazing tourist attraction - but I almost had a panic attack just looking at it. Wowow - so out of interest we are now in the fourth quarter of '06 - has it been completed and has anyone walked out on it - and if so - were they presented with a medal of ....bravery or something lol? B) |

So wonderful, but, I am inclined to agree with all the girls, not for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It must ba a man thing to want to give it a try as Alan would love to venture out on that. Thanks again for sharing that with us. :o |

Actually Lula, it is not a video, I think maybe the site was busy since I tried it after I read that you couldn't get it and it came up with the "page cannot be displayed" I had it earlier so I surmised that it was just busy. I went back today and was able to bring it up.. Try again.. |

Even if you paid me all the tea in China I would not venture out onto that bridge, but, then on the otherhand, who knows, might just be daring on the day.. one can never tell, could just get caught up with the magnificence of it all. |

It must be something in your computer that is blocking it. it is interesting how they constructed it. Actually, you can do a google search yourself if you wanted to check it out. There is a lot on there about this glass bridge. |
