avast! Home Edition is free of charge for HOME users for NON-COMMERCIAL use. You can find more information here. If you are not a home user, or you use your computer for profit, the avast! Home Edition is not licensed for such use, and you are asked to use the commercial version - avast! Professional Edition. To use the Home Edition, you should register it, however, after initial installation you have 60 days to trial the product (as with all avast! antivirus products) before you must complete registration. The registration process is very easy, and will take you only a couple of minutes. All the setup packages are in the form of self-extracting executables and are digitally signed by ALWIL Software. If you already have the latest avast! installed and would like to add a new language only, you don't have to download the whole program again. You can just modify installed components of avast! program via Control panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast! Antivirus -> Change/Remove -> Change. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html |

Update AVG by January 15 If you already have AVG installed on your computer, you may get a warning that you need to upgrade by January 15, 2007. Most people are currently using AVG version 7.1, but you are required to install the newer version, 7.5. Here is how to upgrade to the latest version of AVG Free: 1. Go to www.free.grisoft.com 2. Click on the "AVG Anti-Virus Free" link near the top. 3. Click on the "Download free version" button near the middle. 4. Under the Windows heading, click on the link that starts with "avg75free_..." 5. Click on the "Open" or "Run" button that appears. 6. When the Setup program runs, you’ll have to click Next and accept the license agreement. 7. When it asks you to "Select Setup Type", choose "Repair Installation" and click Next. ____________________________________________________________________ Micorosft is offering a free 90 Day trial version of "One Care" If you want to try, go to: http://www.windowsonecare.com/Default.aspx |
