Dark Elves are a race that have only recently been discovered, as they had been living under the Council's nose for quite some time. It was only in 1816 when a mining expedition happened to stumble upon a uncannily large cavern, which ended up being an Underdark, where Dark Elves lived and thrived in the vast and cold darkness. When this Underdark was found, message was sent to the Council almost immediately, and what ensued was a long and bloody crusade against these new-found Mythics, who dared not to serve under the rule of the Council. During the course of the battle, it was discovered that there were multiple Underdarks, each one acting like a city in a long, interconnected cavern system that the Council dubbed the Underworld. Each one was raided just like the last, and the Dark Elves put up a heavy battle, but their lack of insight on their enemy's technological advantages lead to their own downfall. No matter how much Magic the Dark Elves threw at the Council's armies, it just wasn't enough. The battle would end in no less than a year, nearly wiping out the Dark Elven race. Countless soldiers laid dead in the Underdarks, and many Dark Elves lost members of their families. Those that had died were the lucky ones, though, for soon the remaining Dark Elves, too afraid to fight against their foe, were enslaved. The children and men were forced to do menial labor, whilst the wives served as either breeders or wives, depending on their beauty. For many Dark Elven women, it was the latter. Despite everything that they had endured, the Dark Elven spirit has still stayed strong ever since the Crusades, and there are many documented rebellions against the slavers of their kind, usually ending in the deaths of said rebels. Though, sometimes miracles happen, and some Dark Elves are able to run free for a little while, living the lives of nomad's and learning as much of their old speech, so that they can one day storm the Council and get vengeance for over two hundred years of torment...

Overexertion Dark elves cannot over-exert themselves - have to use their magic carefully to avoid emptying their Mana Pools completely, or else suffer the consequences. While Dark Elves have naturally expanded mana pools, they are unable to recover mana from potions or other traditional forms of mana regeneration. Magical Limitations The dark elves have a very limited language, making it hard to learn any school beyond Evocation, Conjuration, Abjuration, Alteration and Illusion. Light Sensitivity The dark elves, due to their extensive years of living underground without exposure to the sunlight, hold a sensitivity to sunlight. Typically, dark elves will only be comfortable with light during twilight, dawn, and dusk, as well as full darkness. If a dark elf is out during peak sunlight hours, they may start to experience nausea, dizziness, and temporary sight loss. Tall Height An unusual weakness, though their natural height dominance makes them an easy target for attacks.

Expanded Mana Pools Dark Elves have expanded mana pools, being able to cast more magic/for longer periods of time than that of a typical mage. However, they will still be met with exhaustion after a long enough period of time. In addition to this, their mana pools cannot recover by the assistance of mana potions, or other traditional methods of mana regeneration. Natural Affinity to Magic Dark Elves are basically born with this affinity, and have a much easier time casting magic than other species. It seems to simply come natural to them, and all a Dark Elf really needs is the materials to cast a spell at least once. Documented Magical Language making it easier to access certain schools of Magic, such as Evocation, Conjuration, Illusion, Abjuration, and Alteration. They use the words in the language they were born with to cast spells (for example: "Ignis" meaning "fire" in their language, which easily translates to a fire spell.) Night Vision Dark Elves are able to see perfectly clear in the night, a result of their long period of time spent in their underground cities. However, as a result of their adjustment to seeing in the dark, they are incredibly sensitive to light and could temporarily lose their sight if they spend enough time being exposed to the light.
