Kapitan Emboy Palaboy![]() Kapitan Emboy Palaboy by Eman Campos, on Flickr Extraordinary Tour Organizer Before we climb the Nalayag Monolith, we first enjoyed some fresh Bukos (coco fruit) when we came across a group of men in this so called "Koprahan" site. We were somehow enticed to try the Buko by the scene of Kopra workers preparing the coconuts for their Kopra business. Some were burning coconut shells. We found out that these will be turned into charcoals. What amazed me was how this Ren Villaflor, our El Kapitan of ours managed to climb that towering coconut tree. He did it just to have us experience drinking 100% fresh Buko juice. ![]() Ren in white, far right But that's not all. When we head back from the monolith, he again yielded to the group's clamor. Many of us were shouting cheerfully, "Buko, buko, buko, buko" while we were heading down to the Koprahan site. Too exhausted and probably a bit irked but ashamed not to appease his clients, he grabbed a bolo and started to chase us all, shouting like a juramentado! One of us almost lost his head! Okay. That was a joke. ![]() He grabbed the bolo and used it as a climbing tool, embracing the trunk with it and using it to pull his body up the trunk. He climbed the tall tree once again. He even accidentally dropped the bolo upon reaching the top. Probably, due to exhaustion. He managed to sit on the leaves and started pushing the coconuts with his foot carefully to release it from the bundle. After dropping several pieces, he decided to descend but rested in the middle to regain strength. He asked us to help him get down as he reached the bottom. I volunteered readily. Good thing he was okay anyway. He complained to me while we were trailing back to the jump off that his arms were aching and already suffering from a slight inflammation due to fatigue that he got from climbing the tree. He even climbed this Tamarind tree (Sampaloc tree) after some of us noticed, while we were taking a rest, that there were already lots of fruits dangling from the branches. ![]() ![]() An amazing person indeed! A tour organizer you can depend on. Moreover, I can now understand why he is not scared of doing those buwis-buhay poses. He indeed is more physically able than most of us. See photo below; Next photo is with Ren at our meet up point in Araneta Center in Cubao, while waiting for the other participants to arrive. ![]() More of his buwis-buhay poses; https://web.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.397779733892840&type=3&__mref=message_bubble More about our trek to the Nalayag monoliths http://s15.zetaboards.com/emancampos/topic/10112352/1/ Edited by emancampos, Jan 22 2017, 04:48 AM.
