Mt. Maranat

Mt. Maranat is a critical part of the Ipo watershed. it helps supply the water filling Ipo dam.

Angat Dam feeds Ipo Dam nonetheless. Ipo Dam then feeds La Mesa reservoir in Quezon City via a tunnel.

It is also a hiking destination. It is near Metro Manila as well and it will take you just 2 hours to reach the jump off point in Licao-licao. It is situated in Norzagaray, Bulacan (not Rodriguez, Rizal as some say) and has an estimated elevation of up to 840 meters above sea level.

This mountain is part of the Sierra Madre mountain range with neighboring mountains; Mt. Oriod and Mt. Balagbag, which sits at the boundary of Rodriguez, Rizal and Norzagaray, Bulacan.

Hikers need to get a permit from the DENR first before they can enter the area. Forest guards are already monitoring the area to drive away poachers and unauthorized visitors.
