I know some of us like a custom look for our desktop. There are some programs like "Windowblinds" that work, but only "skin over" the existing theme and use alot of resources.

Well, I found a way that uses the existing Windows theme system and makes XP have the ability to be customized! Best thing about it! It's free

Go to >>HERE<< and download the patch. Go to your Control panel and set theme to Windows XP. Unzip the patch anywhere and run it. This program will change a .dll that is file protected, so when prompted to insert XP CD, cancel it and ignore warnings. You will then be prompted to reboot your computer. Wait the full minute as asked and click to reboot.

Now you are set to go to >>DEVIANT ART<<

Download your favorite visual styles, unzip anywhere, but make sure you paste the visual style to c/Windows/Resources for them to work. Some of the .zip files will do it for you. When you go into the Resources file, you can doubleclick any one of your styles and BLAMO!

If you have trouble with the install, please read THIS

I had Windowblinds and hated it because my slow computer did not run right with it. This is way better.

Now to find a nice Vista theme for XP ;)
