and the first thing that hits me about the game is... it sucks! It has none of the cool features SoF did, there is no end-map tally of the shots you made and what % chance you had at hitting. 90% of the damage zone animations are either not working or broken or simply just arent there. Enemies no longer react at all to groin shots... actually... they dont seem to react to most of the shots directed at them. In SoF you could shoot a guy in the foot, then go after his buddy while he hopped around for a few seconds. This was a great way of dealing with dispersed groups of enemies. Most of these type shots are totaly ignored now except in the case of weapon hand shots they will drop the weapon they are holding and run around for a second or two looking for it. There are alot more stealth type missions which for me get tedious real fast. And ALL of the weapons have "realistic fire" which basically means any full auto or burst rounds fired half or more miss. Some of the weapons are completely uncontrolable in full-auto mode. And even in single shot there are times where you miss a target 10' away for no apparent reason. (Ive sent 10-20 rounds straight through a guys head standing right in front of me!) Ive just gotten a "prototype" gun that has such a cumbersome user interface that its not even worth using. The ammo and grenades for the vanilla M-203 are common enough and its far easier to use. Perhaps if I had not played SoF first I wouldnt be so harsh on this sequel, but I did so I am. If you played SoF, and were thinking about getting SoF2 before it is discontinued... dont. if you must... dont think of it as I did in the light of the original, its quite different, and for me totaly disappointing. |

The saving grace of this game is its multiplayer, Ive been playing a bit of the CTF and its quite fun. Damage is realistic so its similar to CS without the buying of gear and one life to give aspects. Sniping is without a doubt sublime! If your good and have a defender to watch your back you can single handedly control key areas on some maps. The few games Ive played there was alot of sniper war type action going on with the standard DM flag run stuff. |
