Anyone here ever have "Near Death" experiences at work or at home? With my career as a mechanic, I have ran into several close calls. This thread is where you can post your "Near Death" experience Ok, here are a few of mine................ A garbage truck came in for a clutch adjustment. I got under it with my creeper and the flywheel needed to be turned 180 degrees to get to the adjuster. The driver was in the truck and I asked him to "bump it". He hits the starter and the damn thing was in gear! I hung on to the undercarriage as the thing started in gear and he finally stopped it 20 feet ahead almost taking out the bay door. A tractor-trailer came in with a leaking air brake valve on the trailer. I replaced the valve and asked the driver to start the truck to build air pressure. After the truck hits 120PSI, the driver released the trailer brakes and let off the clutch forgetting the damn thing was in gear. I hung on to the axle as the vehicle drug me right out the bay door and into the lot. I was picking gravel out of my ass for a week! I got a service call on a tractor-trailer with the trailer brakes locked up. I drove to the location and found the old man driver sleeping behind the wheel. I told him to release the trailer brake valve so I could back off all four brakes till we could get to the shop to fix it. The old man said he was going back to sleep. I went under the tailer and backed off the first brake, second brake, third brake, and tried the last one, but it would not budge! I grabbed a bigger wrench and a breaker bar, crawled back under and started reefing on the adjuster. Just then *BLAMO* the brake popped loose and the tractor-trailer started rolling I laid flat as it rolled over me and jumped up and started running as fast as I could to get to the truck! We were at the top of a hill that ended at the bottom with a busy intersection in town.I barely made it to his steps and started banging on the driver's window frantically! He finally awoke and looked at me. I simply pointed ahead and the old guys eyes were like saucers! By this time, we were probably going 40+ MPH when he slams on the brakes nearly tossing me to the ground. We both started laughing our asses off when it was all cool. The old guy pissed his pants. On my 33rd Birthday, I was at work and had to repair a 2000 F-350 Super Duty. I put it in my lift, set the arms, and raised it all the way up. Just then, there was a loud *POP* and the left side of the lift broke causing it to drop to the safety, but all that weight of the dually truck just kept going left. She came down hard on the left rear and finally slipped off the right side tearing shit up. The truck was a total loss. More later.

Macabre subject, it is bad luck. ...but, when I was like 5 me and my dad where at our boat and I did'nt have my life jacket on, and did not know how to swim. See where this is going? I went to the back of the boat, fell off, and proceeded to sink. My dad was driving I dont know how he saw me fall off. Father's 6th sense? Stoped the boat and jumped in to save me. It seemed I was down there for ever, but I really wasn't. I still havent gotten back on a boat since.

How much memory does this site have?. I may need it all to write myy story lol. no no just joking. But I had what could have been serious saving my self experiances. 3 involving my motorcycles. I did hit a car once, one in the side at an intersection. I lied down my bike in front of me doing 70 km about 40mph and hit the rear wheel of the car and I was spinning on road. Almost lost another on a sharp cuve going down a mountian side looking at forest 100 feet below keepin the tire 1/2 on blacktop to keep control from sliding out over the cliff. :ph43r: Another time just lucky no cars. lost control on a gravel road and come upon a intersection where I stop to turn left I went arround the corner with a passanger like a motocross going 90 km or 55mph with a suzuki 1200 this one could have been death if a car was there. Almost drowned to once when my friends were teaching me how to swim when I was 8. I was holding on a branch as they tried to pull me across the river lol

LOL, I had a near death experience earlier today. Sort of. One of my old friends from school, (I have known him since 5th grade) asked if I wanted to go to the library and "do some school work" witch means, cruise around, eat, listen to music and do nothing of any use whatsoever. So me and another friend agreed to go. I had never driven with him before and didnt think anythingh of it. OMG, going out of the school parking lott he floored it, almost hit a car that was going the other way. The entire time we were out on the road he was speeding, he almost hit two people, an old lady about to cross the street, and a guy on a bicycle, made two illegal U-turns, went through a red light to make a left turn, almost hit another car as we left a Jack-in-th-box, all the while fiddling with the radio and his phone. AND his damn car has no seat belts! I thank god I made it back alive, I have a feeling my friend wont have his licsence for long.
 Next time I drive. And I dont have a license, I would still feel safer!
