Lingo Between Circles/Circuits; For those who don't know..

With the influx of handlers coming in that weren't around for the old EWA/NYSWF/NWW days... or vice versa with SHOOT Project/LEGACY/OPW... it's come to my attention that there's some lingo making rounds between all of us that not everyone understands.

Sorta like how you'll hear "I'm sending you an on card." from someone like Furman(Grady Smith) as opposed to "I'm sending you a seg." from someone like Rich(Honma). It's the same thing, but is a different term in each "circle".

Oh hey, there's another one. EWA "circuit". SHOOT Project "circle". Easy, right?

That being said, a couple match writers who come from the "circle" will occasionally ask for something called a "strat", and I'm not sure who from the "circuit" knows exactly what that is. So let me remedy that for the uninitiated.

A "strat" is a write-up, or brief description depending on how in-depth you want to get, of how you want your ring entrance and "strategy" to look like during the match. The more detailed, the better for us match-writers. Some e-feds are VERY strict with strats. Some are not. Some hold it against you if you can't get one out to the writer, via a loss or intentionally making you look bad, and some just send you a message saying, "I finished the match. Hopefully I did your character justice with the limited info I have!", and the only time someone should even say that is when your roster page is absent. But thanks to Gates being on top of things with the main site, you don't have to worry about that problem at all.

Here in the EWA, we DON'T hold it against you if you can't get a "strat" out to the writer. In my experiences over the years, intentionally making someone look bad because they didn't have the time to send you an additional piece of information in an atmosphere that is SUPPOSED to be relaxed due to us all having lives outside of these phantom walls, is a dick move and counterproductive to the overall mantra of "having fun".

We're definitely not like that here.

Nor are we going to make sending a strat mandatory in any way, shape, or form. It helps... but we don't to risk any handlers feeling overwhelmed.

However, if the writer requests one? Try to get one out to him or her at your earliest convenience. It'll only help out the cause of trying to write out a great match for everybody to read.

And if you don't receive one? Chances are, if you're here, you've been doing this a long time and have a pretty profound imagination. Use it. :P

Hope that clears the "strat" thing up!

Actually, no...I have one more. If you are going to send one, make it a top priority. Some of us (me especially) write matches WELL in advance - both of mine for this card will be written sans finish at least a week before the show.
