EWA Executive Assistant
|
[The camera fades in on a long table, covered in a blue cloth with the EWA logo imprinted on it. There's a backdrop behind the table, with the EWA logo repeating on it as well. There's three chairs set up at the table, each with their own microphone, and as we focus in, a stunning woman in a short white skirt and low cut blouse makes her appearance, crossing the backdrop and sitting at the chair on the left - this is none other than the (now former?) Executive Assistant, Stacy Vandervort. She's followed closely behind by the co-owners of the EWA and D&D Investments, Michael and Erik Draven. Erik takes a seat in the center, with Draven on the other side of him. Both men are still sweaty, still dressed in their ring attire, and obviously have just come from the ring. A small group of reporters is seated in front of them - some recognizable faces include the mysterious masked EWA Insider, wrestling journalist Benjamin Zsasz, and Joe Lemon. Yes, Joe Lemon has on a pair of yellow glasses, holding a yellow notepad and a yellow pin. And he's wearing a yellow suit. Anyway, Erik Draven begins to speak.] 'The ICON' Erik Draven: Alright, I think we're situated here, let's go ahead and get started. The first thing I want to do here today is publicly thank all of the EWA fans, and all of the EWA Warriors, for all of your support, hard work and dedication through this trying time in the structure of the organization. This power struggle of sorts has been difficult on everyone in one way or another, and to the fans, we appreciate your loyalty and standing by us. The EWA is growing more and more successful by the way, and we look forward to taking it to new and exciting heights going forward. [The older Draven brother clears his throat.] 'The ICON' Erik Draven: That being said, obviously there's going to be some changes going forward, and I'm pleased to announce the first one here tonight. As you all may have guessed...[Draven chuckles]...Duane Gates is no longer an employee of the EWA or of D&D Investments. We certainly wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Despite our differences and despite his blatant power-grab, Duane has a mind for the business of professional wrestling. However, he had help during his tenure. A woman by his side, running the office and ensuring that everything was in working order, learning the business, all while remaining loyal to both Michael and myself. It's with great pleasure that I announce Stacy Vandervort will be remaining in her Executive Assistant role going forward. This role will see her dealing with all of the Warriors on a show-to-show basis, as well as being in charge of the front office. She'll report directly to myself and Michael, and be our liasion to the talent, of sorts - you could more or less say that she's taking on Duane's old role as Head of Talent Relations. [Draven nods in Stacy's direction.] 'The ICON' Erik Draven: With that said, I know Stacy has a couple of announcements she'd like to make here tonight, so I'm going to turn the floor over to her for that, and then the three of us will field some questions from you all. [Stacy Vandervort turns, facing the reporters and flashing her million-dollar smile.] Stacy Vandervort: Good evening, everyone, and thanks for coming. I'm extremely excited to be taking on this new responsibility within the EWA. I've worked hard to maintain a semblence of a positive working environment during Duane's tenure, and with that period over, we can focus on moving forward and making this a great place for everyone to work. I have a couple of announcements I'd like to make, and the first pertains to the six individuals that competed tonight as a part of Team Gates. Many would expect us - and I want to clarify the usage of the term us, as even when I was Duane's assistant, I was regularly reporting all goings-on inside the EWA to Erik here - many would expect us to hold some sort of grudge against the Team Gates members. Perhaps fire them outright, or rob them of any opportunities that may be coming their way. That will not be the case. We're going to strive to make this a fair and impartial place going forward, and that pertains to everyone, including the three of us at this table. To that end, I'd like to announce a blockbuster main event for Battlelines XII, taking place on Monday, May 16, from the Combat Zone in our homebase of Boston, Massachusetts. For the first time ever, four separate championships will all be on the line in one tag team match, featuring members of The Hierarchy against members of The Youth. It'll be Azrael Goeren and X-Calibur putting their EWA Tag Team Championship and X-Calibur's Tapout Championship on the line against the team of Alexander Haven, and the EWA World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Kage, who will put that title on the line as well. If Kage is pinned by X-Calibur or Goeren, the person pinning him would become the World Champion. If Goeren or X are pinned, Kage and Haven would become the Tag Team Champions - and if X-Calibur is forced to submit, the person submitting him would become the Tapout Champion - and Kage & Haven would also become the Tag Team Champions. This is an era of opportunity within the EWA, and many will receive the opportunities to prove themselves. That's why I'm also announcing a battle royal for May 16's show, to determine a #1 contender for the EWA Network Championship, with the winner getting a shot at Martin Robertson, provided he's still the champion, at Battlelines XIII, on May 31. Martin will not be defending his championship at Battlelines XII, as he'll have his second round Path of the Warrior tournament match. Martin, however, will now be defending said championship against The Harbinger of HATE, NOTHING, at Fight Night on May 6 in Concord, New Hampshire. And speaking of NOTHING, after tonight's events, both he and Ray Willmott came to me, demanding a match with Lunatikk Crippler. I considered signing a Triple Threat match, but with two men that put on such a classic as they did tonight, and their mutual disdain for Mr. Crippler, I figure - why not put them together? So at Battlelines XII, it'll be Ray Willmott and NOTHING against Lunatikk Crippler and a partner of his choosing. And finally, I want to announce that I'm righting one wrong that took place earlier tonight. The Youth manipulated their way into removing the steel cage match stipulation for Maggie McIntyre's contest with Alyssa Marie Haven, so that Alexander Haven could interfere. Now, Michael and Erik have not heard this until now - they're hearing it for the first time along with the rest of you - but I'm not a big fan of denying both our Warriors and the audience what they were promised. Therefore, on June 23 at Path of the Warrior in Chicago, Illinois, as long as Maggie's knee has no damage that will prevent her from competing, it'll be Maggie McIntyre, and Alyssa Marie Haven, in the steel cage match that was promised tonight. 'The ICON' Erik Draven: Alright, let's open the floor to some questions. [Hands shoot up, and Erik points to an unnamed reporter] Reporter #1: Stacy, what are your thoughts on the situation with Laura Seton, and will she get another shot at the World Heavyweight Championship? Stacy Vandervort: I think what happened to Laura tonight was disgusting and despicable. I reached out to Laura right before we came in here to let her know that she will have another opportunity very soon to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship that, in my opinion, she was swindled out of. I'm not prepared to announce that opportunity at this time, but I would expect you'll know something by Battlelines XIII, at the latest. Laura is, in my eyes, the rightful World Heavyweight Champion, and she'll certainly get her chance to regain her championship. [Erik points to Benjamin Zsasz.] Benjamin Zsasz: Benjamin Zsasz here. What can you tell us about Grady Smith? Obviously he's in peak condition despite only having wrestled once in the last decade before tonight. We know he's on a "come and go as he pleases" contract here - what's his status? Stacy Vandervort: I'm glad you asked that, Benjamin. Myself, Erik and Michael could not be more pleased to announce that Grady Smith will be competing here in the EWA as a full-time active roster member. We're absolutely thrilled to have a legend such as Grady on board, and the dream matchups speak for themselves - starting with Battlelines XII, where he'll be in action in an advertised match for the first time in over a decade. Benjamin Zsasz: Will he be stepping into the ring with his son, Martin? Or possibly Alexa-- Stacy Vandervort: I'm afraid that's all the information I can disclose at this time. However, you're welcome to ask him any further questions you may have about his return to full-time competition. [Erik points to...Joe Lemon.] Joe Lemon: Gosh, howdy Stacy! I sure am sorry for coming out earlier. I thought I was in the match! My question for you is about El Chupacabra. Why haven't we seen them in action yet? Stacy Vandervort: Apology accepted, Joe. We're still in the process of finalizing the contract of Mr. Rodriguez. Once that's been done, then you'll see the tag team in action. Our tag team division has not been the strong point of the EWA thus far, but I am pleased to announce, since you mentioned it, that at Path of the Warrior in Chicago, The Vice Squad, the longest reigning EWA Tag Team Champions in history, will receive their rematch for the titles against whomever the champions may be at that time. You, guy in the mask? [The masked EWA Insider asks a question.] EWA Insider: Erik, this one's for you. You suffered a surprising pinfall loss against Chris Kage in the 12 man tag earlier. Will you be coming back to the ring to get your revenge for this, and for the phone incident, against Mr. Kage? [A long pause from Erik ensues.] 'The ICON' Erik Draven: Never say never. Next question. Reporter #2: Stacy, can you shed some light on the conversation you had with Jada Kaine out at ringside, and how you were able to talk her down from stepping into the ring with that steel chair against Osbourne Kilminster? Stacy Vandervort: I cannot. That was a personal matter which turned into a private conversation backstage, which I'm not at liberty to discuss at this time. Next question. Benjamin Zsasz: Stacy, as you know, Duane Gates had grown particularly close with both Grace Goeren and Osbourne Kilminster. I know you mentioned this being the era of opportunity, but can you in good faith continue to not only give those individuals equal opportunities, but also employ both of them? Stacy Vandervort: I think you'll certainly find that we can do just that. I have nothing against either Grace or Osbourne. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Osbourne and the manner in which he's treated both Sinnocence and the World Heavyweight Championship. I'll likely meet with Osbourne and see where he'd like to go from here, but let me float something out to you - can you imagine the thought of Osbourne or Jada taking on X-Calibur for the EWA Tapout Championship, if he should still be the champion after Battlelines XII? I for one think that'd be an incredible opportunity. But we'll certainly engage him in discussions. I know he'd like to eventually work his way back to a shot at the EWA World Heavyweight Championship, just as anyone on the roster would. If you're not in this business for that opportunity, you shouldn't be here at all. 'The ICON' Erik Draven: We've got time for one more question. Insider? EWA Insider: Will you be signing a match between Michael Draven and Alexander Haven? Stacy Vandervort: I would love to. Haven's contract, however, as drawn up and approved by everyone at this table...[looking down at Michael Draven, before continuing]...gives him right of refusal to any match he chooses not to participate in. That being said, we'll engage him in negotiat-- [Michael Draven, who hasn't said a word during the entire press conference, finally speaks.] Michael Draven: The match will happen. It's just a matter of time. EWA Insider: I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Michael Draven: You don't have to. Every egg can be cracked. It's just a matter of applying the correct amount of pressure. You'll get that match, sooner or later. That's a guarantee. 'The ICON' Erik Draven: I think that's all we have time for. My brother here...[elbowing Michael playfully] needs to get his girlfriend to the hospital to get her knee checked out. Again, thanks to everyone for their continued support, and we'll be working to make the EWA greater than it's ever been. Good night, everyone. [Fade to black.] |
