John Prior and me were looking to sort the parking brake problem on our tractor and got it up on the "ramp" (the draw bar of the roller). The problem was a huge accumulation of compacted grass, we cleared all this out and hey presto the parking brake worked and other controls were much better. So, bouyed by our success, we pushed out the old Westwood, with a view to getting that running. Fresh fuel, petrol tap on, check oil, turn over a few times, ensure choke on, pull on starter cord many times - not a peep. OK, take out plug and check for spark, there was none. Now getting to the points is a bit of a problem with old Briggs and Statton motors, you have to take the flywheel off which if it has not been disturbed for many years can be a b****r. Take off recoil starter, take off cooling shroud, etc, etc. A job for another day. Just as well we left it - I had not turned the ignition key on (don't say a word, I won't say if you don't). All my fault a John did not know there was an ign key on this ancient model. Edited by Norman Carter, May 9 2017, 01:43 PM.
