Doing Alex Henshaw's G-AEXF?

Henshaw flew solo England (Gravesend) - Cape Town - England (Gravesend) in 1939. Total time in the air 78 hrs 59 mins all done between 5th and 9th February, he beat the previous record by 66hrs 42 mins. Currently still the fastest solo flight. His book "Flight of the Mew Gull" tells the story, it's a bit non PC, you will love it..

He went on to be the chief test pilot at the Spitfire shadow factory in Castle Bromwich, now a Jaguar factory. His book "Sigh for a Merlin" tells the story.

Sorry don't have a plan.........

Yes I read his books long ago, do not remember the non pc stuff so tell us more. At least he made it which poor old Capt Bill Lancaster did not. His story is remarkable, how to die in eight days with a stiff upper lip. I read that in the seventies and never forgot it. 'Verdict on a lost flyer' if you can find it long out of print.

Lots of "I will go off and find a white man" when landing at out of the way airstrips in Africa. I will see if I can find a copy of the book you mention.

Seagull do a Mew Gull but I imagine you are looking for a build project..

Not sure if Flying Scale Models were part of the Traplet empire but the web site is still working.
