Winter Parking Improvements

During this week (W/C 9/10) we are having 20 tons of tarmac/crushed concrete (called Ecoblend) delivered to site. It will be off loaded into the winter parking area. It should not impede access across the field, always assuming it remains dry enough for the summer parking to still be used..

This will be spread out onto the hardcore already in place and used to consolidate the far end of the parking area and the start of the track. Here the top cover of soil will be removed down to the hard base and infilled with "Ecoblend". The idea is that it will consolidate the first few metres of the track which was always the muddiest.

The net result will be parking for a few more cars, no muddy far end of the parking area and the possibility of being able to drive across for a little longer.

There is a small negative to all this - the work will be done over a single weekend day and we won't be able to drive across the work site or park in the area being worked on so we will suspend flying for the day. Not sure when that will be but we will advise you when we know.

Twenty tons of ecoblend (crushed concrete/tarmac) delivered to site this afternoon. Track to summer parking still perfectly OK to use and summer parking now less slippy. Strip and field all very firm, there is no water yet even in the sump.

Will be arranging a date when the digger man can come along and spread it, will advise when this is to be done.

It is now moving along fast. The man with the digger (Michael) will be doing the work this Saturday, the 14th. We would normally specify a weekday but he is so busy that we would have had to wait another month.

As the far end of the winter parking will be dug up during the process there is no access to the summer parking area that day. Also as the Winter parking area will be a worksite there is nowhere to park. Therefore THERE WILL BE NO CARS ON THE FIELD ON SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER except for those directly involved with the work. Sorry about the short notice but we want to get the work done as soon as we can.

Towards the end of the day we will be rolling the new area so some help may be needed. I will send out a WhatsApp message to the FFRMFC group to keep you in the picture.

The work is now completed. Until the new material is fully consolidated please drive over carefully to the summer parking which is still in use.

The Ecoblend was laid after the top layer of clay was scrapped off. The digger smoothed it all out and then levelled it. John Prior brought his 4 x 4 mower along which was hitched up to our roller and the surface was rolled several times. It will not be fully consolidated until we have had some rain but is surprisingly firm.

If I could work how to post pictures (the "how to" item was written for people with more brain than I to understand) I would do so. They will however be in the next newsletter due out on 1st November.

Chris Searle and me also cut the strip, pits and walkways as the grass is still growing strongly. So thanks to Chris, John Prior and Ian Stone who all came along to help. Ian and John were sitting on the roller but the ground was so hard they just watched.......
